Dryas - The Land of Wolves and the Black Frost
Second demo by Dryas, the new project of Insalûbris Infernâlis (Insalubre, Eremites, Preeminência, etc), this time featuring Tksräa M. (VzörbrëzV, Mürmurio, Mörmbrztröm, etc).

A bulwark of portuguese Black Metal atavism, Insalûbris is gladly back releasing material with the same primal fury and mystery that’s always characterized his output. Dryas follows on a thematical continuity with Eremites, speaking of old, ancient late Palelithic and Neolithic Portugal, and its vast patrimony, in times of primeval frost and untouched nature, a reality that has remained entrenched in the blood and spirit of the Northern cultures.

Over half an hour of raw yet majestic and carefully crafted Black Metal, with brilliant guitarwork, inspired in the French traditions. However with a much rawer, dungeony sound, channelled from an ancient past far from the realm of the living, Dryas’ sound here is quite reminiscing of old Black Cilice, not just musically as vocally, with Tksräa M.’s style of sorrowful howling reminding of the old Black Cilice trinity, the fact that the demo closes with a cover of BC’s absolute classic « A Throne of Human Remains » is very much fitting, a daring choice but executed with utter mastery.

The focus on eerie and gelid synthesizers, including Ambient and Folk interludes also places this demo closer to older Eremites material such as the « Mundo de Gelo » and « Na Terra do Silêncio » demos.
