STATEMENT FROM TWIN CITIES TREKKIES ON THE EVENTS OF JUNE 14, 2025:

We are absolutely devastated by the news of the assassination of Democratic Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. We are appalled at the assassination attempt of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette and we pray they will recover.

Political violence is never okay, especially when it comes to the barrel of a gun. Our thoughts are with the Hoffman and Hortman families during this tragic time, and our thoughts are with the various law enforcement agencies who are seeking to bring Melissa and Mark Hortman's killer to justice.

Yesterday, we received news that SAG-AFTRA and the various game companies have reached a tentative agreement to end the nearly year-long .

There is an episode of Twin Cities Trekkies that has not aired yet, though it was recorded in early July 2024. This episode featured an interview with Piotr Michael, who voiced Ambassador Spock for the 2023 video game Star Trek Resurgence. It was originally scheduled to air in August 2024, after the Star Trek Film Extravaganza but when SAG-AFTRA went on strike, the episode went unaired.

Once the agreement is finalized, the episode will finally get to air.

Hi everyone! We know we've updated everybody on Instagram, but we need to let you know here on Facebook too. A little over a week ago during the Memorial Day holiday, Wes was in a minor biking accident while going to see some friends watching the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball game at a bar, and he fractured his right radial head joint in his elbow as he was parking his e-bike while getting a birthday gift for his brother at a local grocery store. He fractured it when he was trying to break his fall after falling sideways off the bike.

He is currently in a sling, but should make a full recovery within 3 months, with physical therapy and kicking his ass in order to make that happen. But he will be out of the sling by the middle of June. He's currently seeking short-term disability from his full-time position, but it is a slow and grueling process.

The good news is however he doesn't need surgery. He will continue to make episodes if he is able to, but understand there are gaps in the timeline of episodes. He will be on Treknicity in June for a guest shot.

Keep him in your thoughts! We love you all!

Normally, we do not delve into politics, but this matter regarding free speech and the Trump administration is noteworthy.

Brendan Carr, who is pictured in this article, serves as the head of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

He contributed to Project 2025, a comprehensive plan aiming to transform the United States.

As part of ongoing litigation between CBS News and the Trump administration concerning a 60 Minutes interview with then-U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris last October and subsequent reporting against the Trump administration overall, Carr and Trump are considering revoking CBS's broadcast license.

If successful, this move could potentially impact future Star Trek programming.

This is another major attack on the First Amendment

Twin Cities Trekkies is devastated to see the destruction and loss of lives and livelihoods of many who have been affected by the various wildfires in and around the Los Angeles area, many of whom are likely members of the greater Star Trek community. This includes our favorite actors, writers, producers, etc. who produced such great content over the last 58+ years.

A friend of our podcast, Mark Sickle, has organized a GoFundMe on behalf of his awesome Star Trek group, Star Trek Family - we're honored to be a part of this group - to help out the victims get back on their feet. You can donate as little or as much as you want.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the various Trek community members in the path of these wildfires and hope they stay safe. Those same thoughts and prayers are with the various firefighters that have been deployed to try and contain the fires.
