I met my younger self for tea yesterday.

She showed up with a younger version of June.
She had her in a stroller and I noticed she had walked a quarter mile to the restaurant.
She said she was trying to loose weight.

She had a weird accent and I almost couldn’t recognize her speak.
Her smile was plastic.
I tried to speak to her, but all she spoke of was her husband.
She had to leave early.
I grabbed on to her,
I pulled her close and asked.
‘Are we were happy?’
She shifted uneasily.

She hadn’t made any music in years but she kept humming melodies.
June seemed happy.
I paid for the tea and bid her farewell.
