The vaccination drive kicked off with an orientation for parents and guardians, where RHU officials underscored the importance of immunization. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world, with a high risk of infection for anyone not up-to-date on their vaccinations. The campaign is a proactive step by the local RHU to achieve high immunization coverage and prevent potential outbreaks within the community. Parents whose children have not yet received both doses of the measles vaccine are urged to take advantage of the free service to ensure their childโs health and safety.
The vaccination drive aligns with the Department of Health's (DOH) broader efforts to increase immunization rates and safeguard Filipino children from vaccine-preventable diseases. The DOH, in coordination with the Department of Education, has been implementing a school-based immunization program to make vaccines more accessible to school-aged children.
