Basic Guy (Marko ValentiΔ) was born in 1983 in Osijek, Croatia. From an early age, he showed a strong connection to music, initially exploring melodies through the guitar and other traditional instruments. As the electronic music scene began to rise in the 1990s, he found himself increasingly drawn to its futuristic and boundary-pushing sounds.
His first meaningful encounter with electronic music came through TV channels like MTV and VIVA, where he discovered influential artists across Trance, Techno, and House. The energy, emotion, and atmosphere of those genres left a lasting impression, sparking a deep passion that would shape his creative path. By the late '90s, he was a regular on the dancefloor, immersing himself in the culture and sound that would become a defining part of his identity.
The desire to create his own music simmered for years before taking shape in 2011, when he began producing. His early work was experimental, a process of searching for a signature sound - something personal, expressive, and unmistakably his. Drawing inspiration from science fiction, space exploration, and countless nights lost in music, he began to develop a darker, hypnotic sonic identity. Life itself, with all its complexity and rhythm, also became a key influence.
Today, Basic Guy focuses primarily on Progressive House and Techno. His mission is clear: to craft music that is powerful, groovy, and distinct - music that resonates deeply and offers listeners a unique experience. Staying true to the spirit of the underground scene that first inspired him, he continues to push creative boundaries with every release.
