The sporting fraternity is mourning the loss of legendary veteran football broadcaster and boxing commentator Phumlani Msibi, who has passed away at the age of 57.

A statement issued by the SuperSports Channel has confirmed which, in part, says:

"SuperSport is saddened to learn of the passing of legendary sports commentator, presenter and anchor Phumlani Msibi. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends and colleagues following this great loss."

Malawi's Vice President, Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, is feared dead after the plane he was traveling on disappeared without trace. The aircraft, carrying Chilima and nine others, lost contact with aviation officials and was reported missing on June 10, 2024. The incident occurred while they were travelling to attend a funeral of one prominent lawyer late Ralph Kasambara SC, and despite an extensive search operation ordered by President Lazarus Chakwera, the plane has not been located, leading to fears of a crash landing in the Chikangawa Forest in northern City of Mzuzu.

Chilima had a prominent political and professional career, serving as the Vice President of Malawi and previously working in various high-level corporate roles, including as the managing director of Airtel Malawi.
