HEADLINING HISTORY: Stories from the Old Days, News for the Front Page

Rosario Integrated School, headed by the school principal, Dr. Alicia F. Aprecio, along with the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), celebrated the National History Month this August 11 and 12, 2025 not only in compliance with the Proclamation No. 339, s. 2012, but also to promote awareness, appreciation and recognition for the country's rich history.

To start the celebration, the SSLG, headed by Mr. Arthur Padilla, SSLG Adviser, and Mariane Marcelino, SSLG President, supervised the 1st TalaKasaysayan: Modified Asian Parliamentary Debate last August 11 at the schools' auditorium. Four strands competed for the championship through a single-elimination format, and after a close matchup, the judges declared the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand as the winner.

Mr. Arnel Fortes and Mr. Denver Diocares from the HUMSS Department coached the winning team which consisted of Ashley Albay, Hainey Frias, Monica Rabago, and Mark Anthony Lictawa as the reserve member. Additionally, Ashley Albay also won a special award as the Best Debater, further proving their overwhelming performance in logical persuasion and reasoning.

In relation to this event, the SSLG also conducted the HistoQuiz Bee on August 12, further extending the activities to celebrate the National History Month. The Araling Panlipunan Department organized the said event in collaboration with the SSLG.

A total of 16 groups participated and each group composed of six members, with a combination of students from the different grade levels in Junior High School and various strands in Senior High School.

Rosario Commemorates 156 Years of Historic Excellence

Rosario, La Union — The town of Rosario proudly marked its 156th anniversary with "Pammadayaw 2025," a grand celebration held on August 7, 2025, at the Rosario Farmer's Civic Center. The event gathered Rosario residents, who joined in a vibrant celebration of the municipality’s rich history and enduring legacy of excellence, uniting the community in pride and tradition.

Three honorable guests presided over the ceremony — Hon. Dante S. Garcia, 2nd District Representative of La Union; Hon. Eduardo C. Ortega, Governor of La Union; and Hon. Eric O. Sibuma, Vice Governor of La Union, represented by their chosen representatives. Their presence added prestige to the event as they recognized 210 awardees from Rosario, who proudly wore traditional Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana. Numerous RISeans participated in the celebration, acknowledging their role in contributing to Rosario’s growth, development, and success.

As a first-class municipality, Rosario continues to uphold its legacy of excellence, reflected in the awardees’ contributions to community development and cultural pride.

The event served as both a formal tribute and a heartfelt celebration, reminding everyone that honoring the past strengthens the path toward a brighter, united future for Rosario and the entire province of La Union.

In celebration of the National Blood Donors' Month, the Department of Health (DOH) — Ilocos Central Health Department conducted a School-Based Advocacy Symposium for Grade 12 learners of Rosario Integrated School this July 16, 2025.

Through the National Voluntary Blood Services Program, health professionals from the department led the symposium with an interactive gameshow followed by short discussions. These activities aimed to share knowledge on basic blood facts, disseminate blood donation information, debunk misconceptions, and present blood-related trivia.

Additionally, the organizers also conducted free blood typing, further encouraging student participation and interest. Moreover, they also distributed brochures about Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), as well as Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH), which not only shows basic disease details, but also explains how they are transmitted and how they can be prevented.

All in all, the activity did not only focus on the celebration, but ultimately served as a reminder of the importance that awareness and proper knowledge plays on the lives of students, teachers, and the public in general.
