Electric cars could save around 100,000 American lives by 2050 and cut health costs by about $1.2 trillion, according to new analyses highlighted by the American Lung Association. The biggest gains come when zero-emission vehicles scale alongside a cleaner electric grid. A University of Toronto modeling study estimates cumulative health benefits of $84–$188 billion by mid-century from EV adoption and grid decarbonization. The ALA also projects up to 110,000 fewer premature deaths, nearly 3 million fewer asthma attacks, and millions of workdays saved. Bottom line: cleaner cars mean cleaner air, fewer hospital visits, and longer lives.
