Jammu 5 July 2025- Inspector Sandeep Singh Katoch assumed charge of SHO P/S Gharota Jammu on Today . The said Inspector remained posted in PHQ J&K/NIA /Incharge ESU Jammu/SHO Miran Sahib and being Law graduate he was deputed to NIA Chandigarh where he solved number of heinous cases of different states and for his hectic efforts and sincerity he has already been awarded with DGP Commendation Medal and other Medals from time to time. The officer is hard working, intelligent and performs his duties with great zeal and zest. Wishing him all the best for new posting as SHO P/S Gharota Jammu. The officer is son of Retired Dy.S.P. Shri Jaswant Singh Katoch (one of the best investigation officer/SHO/SDPO of his times and remained reputed officer of the department )

Air India flight AI171 crash incident: 1) The flight departed from Ahmedabad for London Gatwick at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

2) Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.

3) PM Modi spoke to HM Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. He has asked them to go to Ahmedabad and ensure all possible assistance.

4) Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), Ahmedabad, is currently not operational. All flight operations are temporarily suspended until further notice.

*12 tourists injured in terror attack in J-K's Pahalgam*

Srinagar, Apr 22: At least 12 tourists were injured in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.

The attack took place at Baisaran, a meadow accessible only by foot or ponies, where a group of tourists had gone visiting this morning, they said.

According to an eyewitness, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the tourists from close range, resulting in injuries to several persons.

"My husband was shot in the head while seven others were also injured in the attack," a woman survivor told .

The woman did not identify herself but pleaded for help in evacuating the injured to the hospital.

Authorities pressed a chopper into service for the evacuation of the injured, the officials said, adding some of the wounded were brought down from the meadows by local people on their ponies.

A doctor at the Pahalgam hospital said 12 injured tourists were admitted there and the condition of all of them was stable.

A little earlier, security forces rushed to Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam tourist town after sounds of gunfire were heard, a senior police official said here.

The incident comes when Kashmir is witnessing a surge in tourist arrivals after reeling under militancy for years.

Also, the 38-day Amarnath pilgrimage is scheduled to begin on July 3. Lakhs of pilgrims from across the country travel to the cave shrine from the twin routes -- the traditional 48-km Pahalgam route in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and the 14-km shorter but steep Baltal route in Ganderbal district.

*3 People Killed As Cloud Burst Hits Ramban, Properties Worth Lakhs Destroyed*

Jammu, April 20 : In a tragedic incident, three people were killed due to cloud burst in Ramban district on Sunday.

Officials told that cloud burst hit this morning in Seri Bagna area, resulting in death of three people.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban Baseer Ul Haq told that due to continous rainfall throughout night, landslides, flash floods destroyed many immovable properties as also some vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in the district.

He further said a massive rescue operation is underway. He said men and machinery have been pressed into service since last night as roads are also closed down due to landslides.

Unfortunately, three people also lost their life due to cloud burst, he added.
