Lately I’ve been feeling really burnt out.
Sick to my stomach more days than not.
Waking up overwhelmed and not even wanting to get out of bed sometimes.
And when I do, I’m hit with a to-do list so long that I get zero time for me.
It’s that heavy feeling — like maybe things aren’t going to happen for me artistically.
Like I’m chasing something that keeps slipping just out of reach.
But in the middle of all that…
the only thing that’s been giving me real relief is actually breathing
and taking time to just relax with my pen, my MacBook, and my piano.
As is always preaching —
it’s necessary to take frequent breaks from everything.
Not scrolling. Not consuming. Not even overthinking.
Just…
🎹 Sit at the piano (preferably)
🎵 Play one or two songs you love.
🧠 Let your brain rest in rhythm.
💆🏽♀️ Let your nervous system settle in sound.
Piano isn’t just music. It’s medicine.
If you’re burning out from fatigue, stress, or just life —
this is your signal to take five and play.
“Frequent breaks from everything = practice a song or two on the piano.” – Rositsa
This really is good advice for any artist, whatever your medium.
But with music in particular — because it actually changes your brain as you practice it —
taking breaks at the piano is medicine.
