8 May 1945 – Victory in Europe Day

Today we remember the end of World War II in Europe—when after six long years of war, peace finally returned to our shores. Across the UK, people poured into the streets to celebrate freedom, hope, and survival.

This day holds deep meaning for me.
My family lived in London during the war.
Both of my grandmothers were evacuated to the countryside during the Blitz, like so many children and young women forced to leave home for safety.
My grandad stayed behind in London, driving a food truck to deliver vital grocery supplies to families trying to make do under rationing and air raids. He helped keep communities going in the most difficult of times.

VE Day is not just history—it’s our heritage.
It reminds us of the quiet courage, endurance, and unity of people like my grandparents, who did what they could to hold the country together.

Today, I remember them with pride.
Let’s honour the sacrifices made, and the peace they helped secure.

I was hoping to finish this 80th Anniversary VE Day wreath during last night’s live, but I ran out of white flowers—so close, yet so far! 😅 Still, I’m loving how it’s shaping up. That vintage-style centrepiece just brings the whole thing to life. ❤️💙🤍

Early May Bank Holiday (May Day) – This is held on the first Monday in May.
In 2025, it fell on Monday, 5th May (today!).

Spring Bank Holiday – Held on the last Monday in May.
In 2025, it will be on Monday, 26th May.
