Soundtrack for when the robots capture us and take over….
Heavy kick, moody, atmospheric effects, droning subs and haunting synths.
I made this track before the above notion entered my head, the description came after the track was complete… there was no inspiration for the track, I just sat in the cold studio, switched on the gear and started… my workflow typically goes something like this… ‘ooo I like this sound, yeah I like that fx, mmmm nah, actually It feels like it needs a deeper kick. Maybe some glittery high frequency stuff somewhere. Is that snare too loud’… nothing really enters my head about the end result I just focus on the immediate as the sounds i lay down play on a loop, tweaking and fiddling and jumping from one thing to the next. It might not be the best or most efficient workflow, it seems to help me create my best and most cohesive sounding pieces. When I try to focus on a specific genre or try to meet a goal of what the finished track ‘should’ sound like it never seems to work as well, or, enjoyably.
Sometimes the process gives me good stuff, sometimes it doesnt, but thats ok, I enjoy learning from both scenarios.
If you’re still here thanks for reading, give the track a listen, I’d love to hear what you think.
