I am looking for four artists that would like to go in together and share studio space with me in Lake Park.

The space I am looking at is in the same single story retail/office complex that Studio on 10th is located in. Studio on 10th was formed by five artists when the Zero Empty Spaces studios in Palm Beach Gardens closed down last year.

We would be right across from each other in the same building complex, which would create an arts destination that could prove to be a plus for events, such as the Palm Beach County Cultural Center’s Open Studios event.

The unit that is available is divided into three partitioned spaces with open doorways, two of which have natural lighting, as well as two open spaces. It also includes three sinks and a bathroom as well as plenty of community storage, utility and counter space in the back. Each artist would have roughly 120-150 sq.ft. of their own to work in, and there would be plenty of wall space to hang artwork for display.

The cost would probably come in at about $650 a month each. It would be a shared responsibility and there will be some initial start up costs, but the space itself does not require much work to adapt for our purposes.

Well, we’ve made it a quarter of the way through the 21st Century. And so far, things aren’t going so well.
How did we get into the predicament we are in now?
There might be some clues in the New Years editorial cartoons that I’ve done over the years, because early on I decided to try and encapsulate the biggest stories of each past year into a transitional cartoon. Here’s some of them covering everything from the advent of the World Wide Web, to Millennium Bug paranoia, to a catastrophic 2001, to going to war in the Middle East, to Donald Trump’s rise in reality TV popularity, to FEMA being overwhelmed by hurricanes, to the clash of social media and politics, to building anger, to the mortgage default swap debacle and bailouts that brought the discovery of multiple Ponzi schemes and crashed the economy, to a complete loss of reality, fed up voters, to the Sandy Hook massacre, to the discovery that our espionage agencies were spying on Americans, to Trump running for President and getting elected, to the Me Too movement, to worldwide distrust of government and unrest from the right wing, to a pandemic, to vaccines, to vaccine hesitance brought on by conspiracy theories pushed by, among other things, Q, to we had one job in 2024 … one job, to stop all of the disruption …
Yep. Heck of a century so far.
