I want to clarify something that came up in my YouTube comments.

When I said, “It’s always been liberal...”
I was referencing historical patterns.

In the U.S., disability rights as we know them today exist largely because of progressive policy efforts.

Laws like the ADA, IDEA, protections for special education, and community-based services were passed and expanded through liberal advocacy, often in the face of conservative opposition at the time.

On the flip side, many ✨recent✨ conservative actions have included:

▪️Attempts to weaken or defund special education

▪️Reductions to Medicaid and community-based supports

▪️Rollbacks of protections that allow disabled people to access public spaces, employment, and healthcare

▪️Framing disability supports as “entitlements” rather than civil rights

Don't hear what I didn’t say. You can be conservative and care deeply about disabled people.

But at the policy level, disability rights have historically been rolled back under conservative leadership.

Suppose I could’ve explained more in the comment section. But based on the reply, I’m guessing he isn’t genuinely seeking information as much as he is trying to argue.

And to be abundantly clear, I have time to inform, educate and clarify. What I don’t have time for is arguing. 🙃✨
