Saved another 2008 Crown Vic, surived use as an Oregon State Police unit, Portland Green Cab, and repainted all black in private hands. Oregon didn't use too many Crown Victorias after 2004, and finding one these days is fairly rare. Needs a good cleaning and the cut off catalytic converters replaced, unknown mileage but it runs pretty well.
Future plans of full restoration once all the equipment pieces are identified and gathered.
The times are coming where specific agency Crown Victorias are becoming harder and harder to locate

And our most recent and probably best buy this year, a "mechanics special" 2007 Dodge Charger that was an unmarked California Highway Patrol unit out of the Fresno area. This poor Charger had been auctioned twice previously, the last time having brought about $800. The purchaser had gotten the car fired up and let it run while looking the car over, until it shut off and would not restart, he undid the deal. When it came up again, it was listed as non running with no functional brakes and a whole mess of other issues. We snagged it for $350 after fees.
Once it arrived in Oregon, our transporter said that he put 2 gallons of fuel in and the car would attempt to start but ended up winching it up. Tossing a jump pack on, I had the same result. Under the hood I quickly found that the intake had only been partially reinstalled and the EGR tube was not connected, massive vacuum leak! Fixing that, it fired right up but still ran rough, how it ran before I do not know. Scanning codes revealed that the front drivers side coil pack was bad causing a misfire and rough running.
Drove excellent down to the shop where I gave it a quick exterior wash and aired up the tires. For 246k miles, the interior looks like a 50k mile car and it drives like one as well. After fresh paint, this will make for a great daily driver, just might not want to sell it!

The last month has been quite busy between projects and trips to California, but I finished up one of the more recent buys!
This 2010 Crown Victoria with 196k miles originally was a Contra Costa Sheriff unit, bought at auction by a car dealer in Oregon then sold private party. Couple years ago a local security company purchased it with 130k miles. Recently it met a light pole in a parking lot.
Purchased it for $500, had to reinstall the starter in their parking lot and run it off a battery jump box about 2mi to my shop. After a quick detail, replacement front end pieces, tune up, and a few misc items replaced, its back up to being a nicer car once again.
Left the front bumper cover off as it may find its new home with the local PD as a pit training vehicle in trade for a much nicer car they didnt want to weld bars onto.
The cheap cars are out there, they just need some work sometimes to be brought back up to par. All together I have about $700 into the car not including labor hours.

Another update post on the preservation restoration of our 2007 California Highway Patrol Dodge Charger!
Stripped and refinished a few of the deck light and console brackets with the correct sheen of paint. Had to cut out two forward plates for the computer stand and blank area of the console, the blank area probably would have been two separate small plates but for ease I just made one. The correct Bearcat BC796 scanner was purchased and installed into its CHP bracket behind the S810 control head. Finished up the intermediate harness for the forward lighting as well.

2007 Charger 7961s preservation restoration has come quite a ways in the last two weeks! Another post to document some of the progress.

*This car will not receive any markings for a long while, nor will any of the lighting/radio equipment be functional on the road ways. When it does get markings, they will be covered on public road ways even though Im in a different state. Don't be like other irresponsible idiots that drive restored vehicles without covering anything, who also dont have proper permissions to do so by the department the vehicle represents. *

Exterior is cleaned up and awaiting paint correction and headlight restoration. Majority of the interior has been cleaned with the drivers seat and carpet next to be finished. General maintenance, brakes, and a tune up were completed and everything is in great shape.
Proper spotlights and CHP two wire handles installed, as well as the correct fog lamps, mirror light, deck light and brackets, and console wiring. Several harnesses have been completed as well.
Have to rewire the deck light and restore all the brackets, finish some cables, and build the trunk tray for the electrical equipment next once materials arrive.

Our most recent acquisition! This 2007 Dodge Charger was one of the 88 purchased by the California Highway Patrol. The majority were unmarked area Command units, about 8-10 white Public Relations units with special vinyl graphics, and two traditionally marked prototype test cars. The two test cars were this Charger equipped as a slick top and another equipped with a pushbar and Vision light bar. This information was gathered from purchase info I have come across and extensive research through networking/photos.
1247961 was sold off in January 2025 with "engine failure" at 173k miles, out of the Valley Division office. Turn in date appeared to be late 2022. The engine issues were actually transmission control module related and were quickly fixed with spare parts I had laying around.
A quick wash revealed the paint to still be in excellent condition, with only minor touch up needed. Few pieces of correct equipment have been gathered to preserve this small piece of history as it was for the future.

A lesson for anyone with a restored emergency vehicle or wanting one, do not think its ok to drive around on public roads without covering markings(excluding special exceptions). It doesnt matter how old the vehicle is, you are representing the agency whether you have permission or not to display markings.
There are many methods to cover markings without damaging paint, cover any red and blue filters/bulbs. Its so simple and will reduce so much liability.
In this instance the cop was proper in stopping the vehicle for blatant negligence the individual had in displaying current CHP markings. "Show car" is not an excuse when on public roads
