Some showers and rain will be possible this evening due to southeastward flow from the NOREASTER to our northeast.

This system is absolutely incredible, almost taking on the look of a hurricane or tropical storm, and positioned where it reminds many of Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

This isn’t a tropical storm or a hurricane though, as it has completely different dynamics at play - but it is doing significant damage along the Mid Atlantic and, soon, the Northeastern coastlines. We will take all the rain we can get though, so enjoy these fall showers!

Went to the NAS Oceana Air Show yesterday and it was an EXPERIENCE. FA/18s, including the Blue Angels tore it up, and I got to see my favorite, the masterful F/22. Highly recommend going!

A solid look at our thunderstorm this afternoon. Heat and humidity today led to this nice little complex developing off of the western terrain, eventually producing some heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning here in Rockingham County, VA

Good bit of rain and some gusty winds moving through Rockingham County and Harrisonburg, VA right now with this thunderstorm.

Low chance of severe criteria on this thing but it’s definitely gonna blow some stuff around and give us a soaker!

Damage to an evergreen tree on Shenandoah and Harmon at North Delphine (Rt340) in Waynesboro, VA after a lightning strike.

Branches were blown to the side along with bark, and flames were eventually visible.

Fire crews stated that the tree will have to come down and the fire was only dampened - as lightning usually travels all the way through the tree, which superheats it to its core.
