A potent squall line is moving through West Virginia and, soon, into the I-81 corridor of Virginia bringing with it 40-50mph winds and torrential rainfall.
Thunder will be possible but the main risks here are significant wind gusts that could knock over Christmas decorations and lose objects, bringing down trees or branches across the area, and potentially causing a few power outages and certainly a messy morning.
Winds will briefly calm down and pick up through the day after this front passes, so be ready for a chilly, windy Friday.
