The Great Buffalo Hunter, the young male son of the Tom Toms, escapes from an angry elephant that reacted when he felt threatened.

This is the oldest of the adolescent males in the pride, about a year older, and hopefully his parents will let him stay longer.

The Tom Tom Coalition has been dominating the area for about 5 years, a few days ago they had an encounter with a young male that they managed to wound in the hind leg.

The lion in the photo is the one we usually see fighting with his parents for the females that are in heat.

There is no doubt that buffalo meat is a favorite of northern males!

Waziba and Pretty Boy ll devoured an adult buffalo recently, a great feast.

Lioness with a canine tooth dangling in the Chobe River!

The lioness was spotted last month with another group of lions near the chobe river. This lioness lost her lower left canine, and her other canine is hanging on her right side! Apparently it's a recent injury, how do you think it was caused?

Rest in peace Muka Mokokore

Sad News! The famous Tsaro lion, Muka Mokokore, has fallen in battle! This lion was well known in the Duba Plains, in the Okavango Delta of Botswana. He and his brother ruled the Tsaro and Skimmer Pride for many years, until one day four new males arrived in the area, who were known as "Kubo Males".

After losing the territory, the two Tsaro males had a nomadic life, they left Duba Plains and settled in Vumbura, during this time, they had many territorial fights with the resident lions of the area, and more in these last months, new coalitions arrived to the place, so it became normal to see this lion with new scars every time.

Muka Mokokore, is no longer here, and according to conservationists, this lion had fighting wounds.

I always had faith that this lion would manage to find a territory, I always had a lot of appreciation for him, and something that surprised me the most about him, was when he climbed trees, imagine such a heavy lion in such fragile branches, as in this photo taken by and Dereck Joubert.

Botswana leopard hunting season is in full swing with many strong males in their prime being baited and shot to make already rich people richer.

They will tell us this is an old male, too old to breed 🙈 but then again when you spend your time only shooting animals and not observing them you dont know how to age them...

There are 70 leopards up for hunt this season. No science used to determine quotas and of the 70 being shot, they will mostly be shot in areas with relatively low leopard densities like adjacent to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Conservation area bordering South Africa.

They will call this conservation and talk about uplifting communities but I'm willing to bet not even $1000 reaches the ground here? The Botswana hunting model remains an elitist activity and one that really needs to start fulfilling its promises of uplifting communities and conservation in the area.

Where lions were once hunted, they’ve miraculously reclaimed the land,

At the Selinda reserve in Botswana, hunters killed all but two female lions. Then two males arrived, and today, the lion are thriving.

"Why are lions trophies?", she asked teeth clenched but proffering a practiced calm. The answer from the trophy hunter is found in the film Wild Daze Movie

Lions are commonly seen in most parts of Botswana. Best lion sightings in Botswana are in the Savute Chobe National Park. Even though lions don't like water sightings of lions in the northern Okavango Delta are also spectacular. The lions have learnt to thrive there - mainly due to the large buffalo population.
