“You are the best, my child.
Without you, the universe misses something.
You are unique.
You are precious.
You are most important to Me.
You are most important to God.
You are most important to the Universe.
Without you,
The existence misses something.”
-Amma

This quote has pulled me through many a rough patch. Pass it on if you have someone who needs it.

When mass media hysteria is directed at a certain religion or country, I somehow automatically start listening to the mystical traditions of that culture.

It's like a weird radio setting I have going on in my spirit I guess.

When Islamic terrorists were all the rave, I literally could not get enough Sufi Qawwali music. Just ate it up.

Now that Russia is the bad guy (again), I have got these guys playing on repeat on my Spotify.

The Monks of the Valaam Monastery (located on an isolated island in the middle of a freezing cold lake north of St. Petersburg) create some of the most pure, sublime, ain't-no-words-for-it kind of music that takes me so deep into devotion and stillness that I just have to let everything go and be awed.

Their music goes beyond the differences made up in the conditioned beliefs of this world.

The monks at Valaam are what I think of when I hear the word Russia.

Same with the Sufi music. When I hear Islam, the media wants me to think of beheadings and jihad. I think of Nusrat singing his heart out and lighting up the hearts of thousands. I think of the Sufi dancers spinning in ecstasy.

Here's to implanting better images of religions and cultures for us to reference.

Here's to having the courage to dive into the mystical place beyond our differences.

Warning: This one is a little more raw than others.

I feel pretty vulnerable sharing this. It's more of a medium-rare steak episode if you will.

My cat died and narrating this experience turns into a riff that covers vast swaths of philosophical and spiritual terrain.

What is our function as humans?

As souls?

What is the function of life on Earth?

This was one of the toughest pods I’ve published. Really didn’t want to record it, but one of the things I admire about so many of these amazing creators is they’re ability to consistently create, even when they may not feel like it. I certainly did NOT feel like doing this, but I am very glad I did because… it helped me. Perhaps it could help others as well.

In this episode, we take a deep dive into healing the wetiko nightmare mind virus with creativity and, specifically, the Blues.

Like all my podcasts I have no idea what I’m going to be talking about, but I am very pleased with where this one went—and pleased with the effect it had on my soul.

(If you’ve never heard of wetiko before, I explain it in the episode but this episode with author Paul Levy will really show you what’s up. That’s one of my favorite episodes of all time and serves in many ways as the foundation of my work)

Also, the Malian Guitarist virtuoso Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara is named Vieux Farka Toure in case you want to check his music out on Spotify or wherever.

Deep dive today into healing the wetiko mind virus with creativity, music, artistic expression and the Blues. MiracleSoup.substack.com is the place to enter the next level of Miracle Soup profundity, so please consider subscribing there. Thank you so much for being a part of the Miracle.
