Looky here, a screen shot from the Limelight documentary. Our very last Afternoon Delight event flyer from the infamous LIMELIGHT in New York City. There will never be another club like it; that era of house, the 90s in particular, will stand as the most creative, most influential time in dance music history. Hosted by Vogue legend W***y Ninja, King of the Club Kids (convicted murderer) Michael Alig, and nightlife legend Kenny Kenny working the door, music by a little known up coming DJ of only 18 years old named Kenny Summit with special guests ranging from Moby to Paul Oakenfold to Superstar DJ Keoki, performances were a weekly occurance with super groups like Deee-Lite, 808 State, the Chemical Brothers and so many other pioneers of the era. What we did then is still being mimicked today at nightclubs and festivals all over the world. The 90s were a magical time; no cell phones, no cameras, just raw 4 on the floor beats blairing through an amazing Richard Long sound system (the real godfather of big room systems). THIS is what we're all about, the history, the culture, the lifestyle. No selfies, no heads buried in their cell phones, just pure energy, hands in the air vibes all party long!
Looking at the flyer from 95 brings back indescribable feelings, memories of friends long gone, late nights turned into early mornings, the eurphoria of being on a dancefloor with folks from every culture and every walk of life... Looking at the new flyer for the launch of our up coming event series with DC Shoes and the Andy Warhol Foundation brings those feelings back and more; the excitement of seeing friends on the dancefloor, the anticipation of getting to the party early, watching as the crowd fills the room, the energy felt only when a sea of like minded people bounced together to one unifying rhythm... it's magical.
We hope to see you all in San Diego on August 7th.
