A Tennessee man has surrendered eight months after police say he caused a head-on crash that killed a husband and father and seriously injured his wife and daughter.

James Brewington Jr., 61, turned himself in to the Metro Nashville Police Department on Thursday in connection with the November 9, 2025, crash on Clarksville Pike. He is charged with vehicular homicide by reckless conduct, reckless endangerment and three counts of aggravated assault. He remains in jail on a $135,000 bond.

Brewington was driving a Nissan Titan southbound when he attempted to pass a vehicle that was making a right turn, according to investigators. Police say he crossed into oncoming traffic, where his truck slammed head-on into a Jeep Renegade carrying 41-year-old Dustin McLeod, his wife Ashley and their daughter.

McLeod was rushed to Skyline Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Ashley McLeod and the couple's daughter survived the crash but suffered serious injuries.

Police announced Brewington's arrest after he surrendered on the outstanding warrants related to the fatal collision.
