Weekday mornings in our home are a symphony of chaos, coffee, and care. As a mom of three kids in completely different school stages—Senior High, Grade 1, and Junior Kindergarten—my day starts before the sun’s fully up. The high schooler needs to be out the door early, usually armed with reminders about lunch and a hoodie (because, Canada). Meanwhile, my Grade 1 kid is usually halfway through breakfast while trying to find that one missing sock. And the youngest? Full of questions, energy, and the occasion meltdown.

It’s a balancing act of backpacks, snack packs, and quick hugs. By 9 a.m., the house is suddenly quiet—but my day has already been full. It’s not always pretty, but it’s ours. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

After 5 LONG YEARS, we can now officially call Canada our Home.

This is a late post, as we received our ECOPR (Electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residency) last March 20th . The reason behind it is, I feel like hindi pa official for the entire family because Sarkie's ECOPR had some "technical errors", and just received the amended document yesterday. So now, IT IS REALLY OFFICIAL! Marami pong salamat sa lahat ng mga prayers, support and pagsubaybay sa buong journey namin dito sa Canada. To our Tropang Layaz Fam, to my ISA Medems, to all our friends and family who never fail to remind us that we are brought here for a reason, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Special mention to the person who helped us make this possible, our gorgeous consultant Dita R Sab, thank you! Above all, Thank you God! You truly are amazing! All Glory to You!

Notes from the announcement made yesterday by the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada that impacts current and incoming international students:

📌The proposed reduction of temporary residents from 6.5% of Canada’s total population to 5% will be reflected in the 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan, which will be released by November 1, 2024.

📌Graduates from programs at public colleges will remain eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) of up to three years if they graduate from a field of study linked to occupations in long-term shortage.

📌As part of changes to the PGWP Program, all applicants will be required to demonstrate a minimum language proficiency in French or English. This will increase their ability to transition to permanent residence and adapt to changing economic conditions. A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 for university graduates and CLB 5 for college graduates will be required for anyone applying for a post-graduation work permit on or after November 1, 2024.

📌The 2025–2026 study permit intake cap will include master’s and doctoral students who will now have to submit a provincial or territorial attestation letter. We will be reserving approximately 12% of allocation spaces for these students in recognition of the benefits they bring to the Canadian labour market.
