The best time to visit Visapur Fort is during the monsoon season (from June to September).
Clouds often envelop the hilltops, creating a mystical atmosphere. The misty views from Visapur Fort are truly enchanting during this time.
The weather during monsoon is relatively cool and pleasant. The temperature remains moderate, making it comfortable for trekking and exploring the fort.

The fort was built during 1713-1720 CE by Balaji Vishwanath, the first Peshwa of the Maratha Empire.

Although Visapur Fort was constructed later than Lohagad, the histories of the two forts are closely linked.

In 1818, during the British conquest of the Peshwa’s forts, Visapur was attacked and occupied. The British strategically used its higher elevation and proximity to Lohagad to bombard the latter, forcing the Marathas to flee.
Within the fort, you’ll find caves, cisterns of water, a decorated arch, and old houses.

Two roofless buildings, surrounded by outer or veranda walls, were once Government offices.

The ruins of a large stone-built house are known as the Peshwa’s palace.

Several temples dedicated to Hanuman are scattered throughout the fort.

Local legend claims that a well within the fort was built by the Pandavas.

सह्याद्रीच्या गुंडाळीत, मी Ghangad Fort च्या प्राचीन गुपितांची शोध केली. 🏰✨ त्याच्या वर्षातील पाण्याच्या पात्रांमध्ये इतिहासाच्या कथांची आवाज आली. व्यापार मार्गांची रक्षा करण्यासाठी किंवा कैदींच्या निवासासाठी, हे 300 वर्षांचे किल्ले सगळं दिलं. 🌿🔍 आणि मी त्याच्या बालेकिल्ल्यावर उभा राहिल्यावर, त्याच्या चौकटातून TailBaila, Korigad, Mulshi dam आणि Sudhagad Fort दिसले. 🌄
Ghangad पुणे ते कोंकण जोडणार्या व्यापार मार्गावर एक दोका ठेवले होते.1818 पर्यंत, किल्ला मराठा साम्राज्याच्या अधीन असल्याचे, परंतु नंतर Korigad किल्याच्या पडद्यावर इंग्रजी सैन्याने आपल्या अधिकारात घेतले. या इतिहासातील एक अद्वितीय अध्याय आहे, ज्यातल्या विवादांच्या आणि संघर्षांच्या गोळ्यातून गुणगुणलेले आहे. 🛡️🏹
