I guess I can see why they are so feared in the wild🤷‍♂️. #javelina #arizona #texaswildlife #arizonastate #animaleducation #animalfacts
Charmin wanted me to play with her rather than serenade her. Oh well, maybe next time. #porcupine #africancrestedporcupine #wildlifeeducator #zoomies #africanimals #exoticanimals

Did you know that porcupines swim especially well because of their hollow quills!?! Some porcupines have been observed swimming for the fun of it. Charmin still doesn’t know what to think of the water though, she’d rather float with me. #porcupine #africancrestedporcupine #charmin #africanwildlife #zoolife #wildlifeeducator ##poolparty #pool #swimming #swimlife
They have a few advantages living near the water. Their prey comes to the water to drink and eliminates their need to waste energy tracking it down. Their heavy weight is also much easier to move when buoyant in the water. #python #reticulatedpython #snake #poolparty #deadly #dangernoodle #poolnoodle
Quills have to make contact with something before they can be released from the porcupines body. I really think cartoons are what caused the confusion. Anyway, this is the most common question we get during programs. #africancrestedporcupine #porcupine #rodent #poke #africanwildlife #animaleducation #charmin

Hunting for the sake of population control is a difficult topic for me. 10% of the US Collared Peccary (Javelina) population is hunted yealry. Even with that, their range and numbers continue to increase. We have all but killed off their natural predators that would normally keep their population in check. Anyways, I’m just glad Tortilla will never have to worry about being hunted. #javelina #peccary #hunting #shotgun #exoticanimals #wildanimals #arizona #texas
