Alan Lander - Noosa journalist This started out as a means of keeping my journalism skills intact and up to date. Fee free to comment - nicely!

Some people like the result, so I will post mainly news pieces - and maybe the occasional op-ed - here while I remain in between journo gigs.

As anyone in Noosa Junction can tell you, there’s a precarious and evolving balance between residents and those who head there to socialise and listen to live music. It’s an issue to be grappled with…

Reading up recently on a Fb page about Auschwitz-Birkenau reminded me of a story I covered in 2009. I met a fellow called Harry Fransman, 85 at the time, who not only survived the death camp but also the notorious Death March following the attempted abandonment of the camp n 1945.
The story isn't much - I wish it could have been a few thousand words longer - suffice to say, meeting someone like Harry - and the other amazing people at this incredibly unusual event was one of the most profound experiences of my life.
They showed bravery in a manner I have yet to see something come even marginally close in today's world.
As I watch current events unfold in the US I am reminded of Harry, who has now left us, but I will never forget him.

Due to the parlous state of (paid!) journalism, I am opening up to offering sub-editing, proofreading services, also re-writes, speeches, punctuation/grammar checks (old school!) - NO AI USED AT ALL - EVER!
If you want to be confident your message/speech/submission/assignment/etc is correct and meaningful, get in touch!

A town planning scheme cannot predict the future. And by the time the 10-year-spanning document is written, let alone endorsed, elements of it can often already be out of date. The Noosa Plan is a…
