For a polygamist like Baba Segi, his collection of wives and a gaggle of children are the symbol of prosperity, success and validation of his manhood.

Everything runs reasonably smoothly in the patriarchal home, until wife number four intrudes on this family romance.
Bolanle, a graduate amongst the semi-literate wives, is hated from the start. Baba Segi’s glee at bagging a graduate doesn’t help matters. Worse, Bolanle’s arrival threatens to do more than simply ruffle feathers. She’s unwittingly set to expose a secret that her co-wives intend to protect, at all costs.

Lola Shoneyin’s light and ironic touch exposes not only the rotten innards of Baba Segi’s polygamous household in this cleverly plotted story; it also shows how women not educated or semi-literate, women in contemporary Nigeria can be as restricted, controlled and damaged by men – be they fathers, husbands, uncles, rapists – as they’ve never been.

"I was a trapped animal. Not trapped by the women, the house, or tradition. I was trapped by life. Like I had been a free spirit for millennia and then one day something snatched me up, something violent and angry and vengeful, and I was pulled into the body that I now resided in."

Being a father is no easy feat and we are not just saying that because of the financial aspect alone. It takes courage, sacrifice, making hard decisions for the entire family. What makes father really incredible is the fact that no man goes into fatherhood prepared, its one of those jobs that they earn their qualifications on the job.

However, we are all guilty of not celebrating fathers enough. Fathers are like a steady but less sentimentalized institution. Yet these belies the enormous impact a father has on a child. For many people, their father gave them their first book! This also means he guided your first steps towards acquiring knowledge.
Now, the impact fathers have on the education of their children goes beyond putting them in school. It is actions they take which becomes the example for you to follow. He is the first friend you make and the last love of your life. Take your time to celebrate

Happy Father's day to every father dead or alive.

Questions like: • Is it scriptural for a Christian lady to propose to a guy she finds attractive or is sure is her God-ordained spouse? • When is the right time to get married? • How do I overcome the temptation to be anxious because I’m still single at my age? • Am I still single because God doesn’t love me? • Why do I still have all these s*xual urges even though I’m saved and single? and lots more.

Each chapter takes the reader on a journey of understanding the wisdom in trusting God even when the hope of marriage has been deferred. They also equip the Christian single with practical insights on how to relish this season of their lives as they prepare for what they hope will be their next.
