Exploring WordPress vs. Squarespace for your first website?

Let’s break it down!

WordPress is a creative hub offering endless possibilities to shape your unique online space.

Squarespace, is a sleek and user-friendly platform, providing a simple canvas for your ideas.

As for the learning curve...

WordPress does have a learning curve and it often feels overwhelming in the beginning.

Squarespace on the other hand is a breeze – a drag-and-drop interface for easy customization.

Also, there’s a question of the price point.

With WordPress, you’re likely going to have to look at hosting costs on other platforms (sounds tricky but it can be cheaper in the long run).

Squarespace has it all included in the monthly fee, but it comes to about 20-30$/month depending on your site’s plan.

Don’t be fooled. It wasn’t easy.
Some days I was posting 10 pins using my template.

But it grew like 🔥🔥🔥

My main takeaway is, everyone can do it. I have successfully repeated the same strategy many times after this.

And I intend to repeat it many more 😈

As for my story, I now know that I overworked myself and overcreated for so long that there was no other way.

Creative work, regardless of how fun and fulfilling it is is also work. I know that now, and I also hope that you’re all smarter than me🐣

Hi followers🙋🏼‍♀️

Time to reintroduce myself and tell you a bit more about what I'm doing ↓

I'm Lithuanian, full time expat in the Dominican Republic.
I have been working remotely since 2016 so turning 5 years soon, hence the tips about working from home, cause I've done it all, and loved it🙌🏼

In the beginning of the pandemic, I took a leap and started my own business creating Canva templates, and managing social media. I had 0 ideas about what it entailed, and I was in for a serious ride.

Now, a year and a bit later I have 4 employees, an agency, passive income business, I've officially become a Canva certified creative and built my own marketplace for selling templates (still working on this one, as well as the course on how to create and sell templates)

All my projects keep changing and growing, and they're far from finished, but one thing remains the same in everything that I do → all of it is dedicated to helping small business owners show up confidently on social media♡

I know what it's like to start something from scratch, to have zero savings, no safety nets, support systems, and frankly nothing else but a dream, an idea of a better future, therefore I do my best to create options with the lowest entry level, as well as more complex ones for those who are further in their journey.

We've all seen the signs🚧

As a business owner you've been fighting invisible algorithms, reels, insights, engagement, at the end of the day, you outsource if you can because it's exhausting.

I'm on the other end of outsourcing, I work designing and managing my client's Instagrams, and I see the struggle, I live it.

In order for your business to get seen you need to create a solid strategy, have a schedule, create killer content, get good on video, provide value, research hashtags, and even all that doesn't guarantee exposure.

It's not a secret that it is very difficult to get seen organically because the platform wants you to pay, and with the recent IOS 14 updates, things intensified.

So what are your options?

→First, test other platforms. Be smart, evaluate your ROI, look at where your target audience hangs out. I'm on Instagram, but I have an audience of almost 2mln on Pinterest. Never put your eggs in one basket.

→Don't get your feelings involved and especially pride. I see so many owners who truly believe that being successful on Instagram is cool. Being successful is cool regardless of the platform.

→The cost of outsourcing and the cost of paying for exposure is relatively the same. Consider it.

→Never forget that you don't own your audience on any platform, get the people into your funnel. Instagram is a tool, not a destination.

I get it. When you're new you have to carve a spot for yourself in this world.

And what's better than...↓

Marketing is having a moment right now, with the shift that came with social media we no longer rely on others to advertise our services. So we do it all ourselves.

When I was organizing events, and working in the office, in the so-called stone age (maybe 8 years ago), marketing had to be bought or traded.

You paid large sums for radio, and TV time, plastered entire cities with posters, spammed cafes with your flyers just to get that one second in front of your audience's eyes.

→Fast forward to today, we business owners, are obsessed with our marketing.

→We're marketing so much that we often forget to run our actual businesses.

It's easy to fall down the rabbit hole, if you've set up your website you have to do the SEO, email marketing campaigns, landing pages, CRO, social media on at least 2 platforms, with the right branding, of course, some content marketing, videos, graphic design, and paid advertising.

Here, you find yourself doing it all simultaneously, jobs of at least 5 professionals, and in the meantime who's doing yours?

Imagine if you took all this time and effort and dedicated it to building a business.
What difference would it make?

✌️Hi, Story Native community!

The start of a new season seems like a perfect time to reintroduce me and explain what it is that I'm doing here.

I've probably caused a lot of confusion to my followers on this account in this past year and a half. Let me put you up to speed.

In 2020 I've started as a solo creative, sharing my designs, and quickly moved to open a shop for Canva Templates which transformed into a marketplace where everyone's welcome to sell.

Lately, I've been quietly making changes that separated the marketplace from my creative work, and I'm almost done.

The marketplace is getting a new name and a new online home, and now Story Native operates exclusively as a creative agency.

Story Native is me, Justina, and two awesome girls that whom I hope to introduce you shortly.

We do create Canva Templates for busy business owners, help them with their branding, and manage social media accounts.

We're so lucky to be growing in these uncertain times, and so if you're looking for help in these areas DM me about our packages.

☝🏽It seems like the whole Instagram is confusing the two.

As a business owner you've probably realized very early on that you are your most valuable asset, therefore your well being is an essential part of your success.

So how do we actually care for ourselves when so much depends on us?

Various corners of Instagram will jump in with long baths, face masks, pizza nights, and long walks in nature.

While the latter might actually help, the other 3 are self soothing behaviors that will make your feel good...short term.

→Don't think that you have to cut these out from your life, on the contrary, these are your coping mechanisms, routines you fall into when you need to well... self soothe. And it works!

→Self Care on the other hand is a long term solution. Sometimes it's a boring task, such as filing your taxes or saving for an emergency. It's the exercise, the clean foods, cleaning your house and head by going to therapy. In other words, self care is thinking about your future self and taking care of that person now.

And you, dear business owner, have some self caring to do!
