One of the best spots in Australia 🌺

But there are more things to do on the Whitsundays than just visit the Great Barrier Reef (although it’s a must!!)

Here are 7 things that you can’t miss on your itinerary to the Whitsundays

1. Whitehaven beach - we went with and it was an amazing full day trip!

2. Cedar Creek Falls - only 30 mins from Airlie Beach (main town) and is a beautiful fresh water swimming hole

3. Bowen - only 1 hour north from Airlie and is the hidden gem of the Whitsundays!

4. Great Barrier Reef - we did this on our tour with and saw some amazing coral and marine life!

5. Cape Gloucester - only 35 mins from Airlie and is full of beautiful bays like Hideaway bay!

6. Cafes & restaurants - Airlie is spoilt for choice for amazing food options, you can’t go wrong wherever you pick!

7. Swimming Lagoon - located in the centre of Airlie beach, this free lagoon is perfect for a refreshing swim!

We recommend basing yourself in Airlie Beach and doing day trips to all these amazing spots 😍

Follow us for more bucket list road trips 🚌

A road trip from Alice Springs to Uluru has to be one of the best road trips in Australia and should be on everyone’s bucket list! 

The best time to visit is generally during late Autumn - early Spring (May - September) so that you can avoid the heat!

We did our trip in 10 days with 1 day either side in Alice Springs!

If you have a 4wd you can also do the Mereenie loop to save time between West Macdonnell range and Kings Canyon 🙌🏽

Here are the must visit spots on the road trip:

📍West MacDonnell Ranges 
This national park is so underrated, it is full of amazing gorges and hikes. You can day trip from Alice Springs or spend a few nights exploring. You can’t miss Simpsons Gap, Ellery Creek, Standley Chasm and Orminston Gorge.

📍Kings Canyon
One of the most breathtaking places we have been, with the Rim walk being the major attraction. It’s a 6km loop around the top of the canyon, definitely try make it for sunrise - it’s so incredible!!

📍Uluru
The heart of Australia! This place is absolutely magical especially during sunrise and sunset. Hire bikes to ride around the base, experience The Field of Light, take a scenic helicopter ride and do the Free guided Mala walk to learn about the Aboriginal history and art around the rock!

📍Kata Tjuṯa
Located only 40 kilometres from Uluru in the same national park and is made up of 36 domes! Make sure you visit at sunrise and sunset. Enjoy the amazing walks including Valley of the winds (7km loop) and Walpa Gorge Walk (2.3km).

Our favourite thing about living in North Queensland.. 🤔

is that we are surrounded by so many amazing places within only a few hours drive 🏝️

We had the best time exploring last week and no matter how many times we have been to the Whitsundays it never disappoints!

We can’t wait to keep exploring new parts of North Queensland 🌴
