On 24th August, 2024, Kigungu lost a great woman. Mrs. Margret Namulondo Ndawula.

She has been an entrepreneur in general merchandise, hospitality, farming and through her efforts, has employed may people from within and outside the community.

She loved people and has managed to replicate herself in many who will carry on her legacy.

It's with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely death of Mr. KIRABO GODFREY.

Mr. Kirabo has been a businessman, teacher and most importantly a preacher. To most of the people in Kigungu whose population is largely youth,he was a teacher.

I can confidently say he has been a God appointed leader for Kigungu as he has believed in its potential by setting up a school there and doing many other businesses in the community.

He will be deeply missed and I pray the youth of Kigungu build on his legacy by committing to make Kigungu a better place.

Rest in Peace Mr. KIRABO GODFREY.
Thank you for all you have done. Until we meet again.

WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS YOU WISH WERE IN KIGUNGU BUT ARE NOT?

02/06/2024

Do you hold your leaders accountable?

What in the last 3 years have you identified; has changed/improved in your community?

Are you happy with the roads, the level of investment, the structures in your community, the hygiene, the security, the attention the leaders to represent you are giving you, the kind of education your children receive, the income you receive from your efforts?

Do you know the potential of your community?

Do you know the responsibilities of your leader?

Do you know your responsibility as a member of the community?

Pause & think about this people of the mighty Kigungu.

Brothers and sisters of Kigungu, I ENCOURAGE YOU to register your land.

Don't let ignorance make you lose your land. Land grabbers are looking at Kigungu and want to forcefully take people's land especially those whose land isn't registered by the owners. Let your LC guide you.

You will be shocked with news that the land your grand fathers left you is not yours.

Hello Kigungu,

Today I would like to talk about LOVING OUR COMMUNITY.

Kigungu isn't an ordinary place. We have very many opportunities to make our place better than it is now. For example we are next to the airport therefore there are opportunities to have better infrastructure in time whether our leaders like it or not. We have a landing site and it's associated benefits. Kigungu is generally beautiful.

The Kigungu we see now will most likely be very different in a 10 - 15 years.

There are things people in better communities have done to make their communities better such as; Loving their community.

We love our community when we don't look at it as a village for villagers but a community with potential to raise impcatful leaders.

We love our community when we are mindful of who we choose to lead us. When we hold our community leaders accountable. We should for example listen to the manifesto of our leaders and hold them accountable when they don't deliver. We shouldn't simply put people in leadership because they are our friends but because they've demonstrated ability and will to make our community better.

For example we need to have competitive Primary Schools. Primary education is key for people. If schools just 13kms away perform way better than ours, what can we do to improve Primary education in our community since most parents can't afford to take their children to schoold outside Kigungu in terms of School fees and transport?

We need to do business ethically and look towards delivering to the standards communities outside deliver. This will attract market that will sustain us when the fishing sector which we depend on largely is disturbed.

We need to help one another believing that the well being of another is the well being of the community. If 10 people build flats, it's changing the way our community looks. It's a win win for all of us.

Add onto the list....
1- what can we do to build our community to the standard we want?
2- What Kigungu do you want?

THE WELLBEING OF OUR COMMUNITY STARTS WITH US.

It will be a shame if other people came in and bought all the land and used Kigungu more than you are using it now.

A happy Easter to us all.

Let us promote the beauty of Kigungu to the rest of the world together.

KIGUNGU HAS FOUND FAVOUR IN THE EYES OF THE LORD GOD & NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THE WORK OF GOD IN THAT AREA.
