Simply put, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is one of the finest cars in the world. Is there a better way to fall in love with a car than a proper road trip? This one, leaving London at midnight after a black tie dinner and driving through the night to Reims for lunch the next day, then on to Geneva, was epic. We broke down (obviously not the Mercedes), met great people along the way and found new respect for the cars and their ability. Part 2 is in planning now: car suggestions welcome!

It definitely doesn’t lead the mummified life of your average concours entrant, which makes the invitation to Pebble Beach which just arrived even more surprising. They’re having a one-off class to honour the 50th birthday of the Countach this August.

Car and driver can’t wait: especially taking a road trip down the Californian coast south to LA afterwards. Isn’t it what they’re for? 👍🏻
