I wrote Danny’s Christmas List because I love Christmas and all it’s wonderful, including the imagination in it. I wanted my children and others to be able to imagine themselves in all of it, which why it was important to include images of Black Santa and a Black family. My family and I have several traditions, including having advent calendars every year. This year, I switched it up and got a wooden one from so we could create a new tradition. Each day, I’ve written a message and an action for us to do to celebrate the real reason for the season… and of course it’s filled with chocolate.

Here’s the synopsis:

When Danny and his family visit a local Christmas market, he finds himself in a chance encounter with Santa. With his list in hand and Santa all alone, Danny sees a chance he must take. I struggled to sleep last night. To prevent another sleepless night, I decided to to color while sipping sleepy time tea. I’m fully relaxed and ready to drift off to sleep.

Coloring generally calms my mind. I actually keep my coloring book on my desk and when I find myself feeling stressed or frustrated, a quick coloring break gets my head back in the game.

We rehomed our dog last weekend.

While that’s a story for another time, it allowed us to rethink our living room again.

Being the bookish person that I am, I strategically placed a few books around the room as part of the new decor. I chose pretty books that I figured each member of my family would enjoy.

While both our sons are already voracious readers, I was very happy to witness them taking advantage of the books I set out in the living room. The oldest even opted to read instead of playing Monopoly, Jr.

Reading continuously opens my mind to new possibilities and excitement and I’m glad my boys feel the same way.

I took a break from business books for a while and let my mind relax and escape in some romance novels. I was never into romance but during our tenth anniversary trip, I happened upon an author whose writing literally makes me smile. I’ve been binging her ever since. If you’re wondering, her name is Jasmine Guilllory.

My former team bought me Tribes by Seth Godin and a friend just recommend Multipliers by Greg McKeown and Liz Wiseman. I recommended Crucial Conversations to another friend who is really enjoying it and immediately put the tips into practice. It made me want to go back to it myself. On Audible, I’ve been listening to Sell or Be Sold.
