He did it!!! The Worlds — against ALL the odds!
If I told you my son spent chapters of childhood in a wheelchair, losing years of sport to hospital and recovery, you likely wouldn’t expect this outcome…
Age 14, performing stellar sailing standard, claiming his position in the British team, heading to the World Championships in Morocco with his mates. Boom 💥
So many life lessons to be noted from his fearless performance this weekend — keeping the fleet and adults on the edge of our seats…
Carrying two black flags — with which most would go home. Choosing instead to claw it back… achieving 5 straight wins through strategy, strength, and absolute determination. It full body hurts to push for the wins!
Clean competition at the very top level, integrity, and going back out to earn the ‘impossible’ properly, and professionally.
It’s one thing to be confident when you’re winning, but quite another to have the resilience to go back for it when you’re in the doldrums. To be able to step away, play golf, laugh with friends, and return to the course the next day without falling into doubt or self discouragement - speaks volumes on maturing a mindset through life strife and lived experiences. It’s what we learn, not just what we experience..
The trust he has in his own ability. The belief and support around him. It does take a Tribe — So grateful for his sponsor your words ‘we don’t care where he finishes, only who he is to look up to’ 💙 Coach truly 🙏 Mum & Dad, the Boatel support team, and my stars for the opportunity to keep watching him break all the odds to shine at living this life!
The world needs more resilience, the kind that needs building through tough times, life lessons and tight boundaries…
Through Fearlessness of failure.
To never, ever, ever give up.
To fight for your position — it’s yours for the taking, but the taking takes grit and graft.
My boy. Proud doesn’t quite cover it. 💙
now back at school, so you can’t be cross with emotional Mama posts. I love you so very much ☺️
