Justice Abiola Soladoye of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Wednesday, March 15, sentenced a man,  Stephen Francis, to life imprisonment for d€filing an 11-year-old  primary five pupil in his room.

The prosecution had dragged the convict to court for d€filing the suspect.

Delivering judgment in the case, the presiding judge held that the prosecution team had sufficiently proved the three essential ingredients of d€filement against the convict. According to her, the confessional statements of the convict were consistent with the evidence given by the survivor and her mother before the court.

“The survivor, 11-year-old primary five pupil, identified the defendant in the dock as the man who s*xually defiled her when he told her that his wife was calling her to run an errand for her. The defendant took her to his house and had s*x with her. She said, ‘he took me to his room and slept with me. I went to mother and reported to her after that we went to the police station.
The survivor’s testimony was consistent and unshaken under cross-examination…The defendant stripped her naked and had unlawful s*xual in*******se with her.”he said

The judge further held that slight pe*******on amounted to s*xual in*******se and denial by the defendant was an afterthought.

“I hereby find the defendant guilty as charged of the one count of defilement and he is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment. The defendant should have his name registered in the s*xual offence register as maintained by Lagos State.” the judge held

A woman has been sentenced to eight and a half years in jail after she injured herself with a hammer to falsely claim she had been r@ped by a gang.

Eleanor Williams, 22 from Barrow, United Kingdom, was sentenced today, Tuesday, March 14.

She was previously found guilty on eight counts of doing acts tending and intended to pervert the course of justice after she accused five men of r**e, leading to one being jailed and leaving others' lives in tatters.

Williams was 16 when she made the first false claim she had been r@ped at a party in Barrow. She later claimed she had been r@ped after a night out at Manhattans nightclub, where she worked, and again at her flat by the same man.

She went on to say she had been groomed from the age of 12, forced to attend s*x parties across the north of England and taken to Ibiza where the abuse continued. She said she had been sold as a slave at an auction in Amsterdam while on holiday with her sister.

Williams had published pictures of her injuries and an account of being groomed, trafficked and beaten, on Facebook in May 2020, in a post which was shared more than 100,000 times.

It sparked demonstrations in her hometown and led to English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson visiting the town to “investigate” the claims.

In a letter to judges, Williams apologised for "some mistakes" and said she was "young and confused".

She wrote: "I know I have made some mistakes and I am sorry but I was young and confused. When I wrote the Facebook post I never intended causing issues in the community. I am devastated at the consequences it has had on Barrow. I was discharged from hospital that morning and was in a bad way....I wasn't thinking straight.

"Me and my family publicly stated we didn't want Tommy Robinson in the town as I do not agree with his views and know the damage he has caused."

Some of the falsely accused men gave statements ahead of her sentencing, opening up about the impact the accusations had on their lives.

Jordan Trengove, who was arrested three times on false allegations, said: "We had the word 'r@pist' sprayed on the house...

・・・
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has vowed to report any bank that rejects the old notes to the Central Bank of Nigeria and to shut the offending branch immediately.

He made this known in a statement released via his Instagram account on Monday.

He wrote, “My dear Lagosians, I have noted the difficulties that you have been having over the naira redesign crisis. I feel your pain.

“I discussed with top officials in CBN who assured me that commercial banks were directed to accept the old N500 and N1,000 notes as deposits and pay them out for withdrawals. They informed me that commercial banks got the directive at a Bankers Committee meeting on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

“I, therefore, urge you to go ahead and have transactions with the old notes. Lagosians should feel free to use the old notes for commercial purposes. Retailers, transporters, traders and all businesses must not reject them, as they remain legal tender, following the Supreme Court verdict, which extends the validity of the notes to December 31, 2023.

“Any business that fails to collect the notes will be heavily sanctioned.
I therefore advise Lagos residents to freely accept and transact their businesses with the old currency notes (N200; N500; and N1,000)as well as the new notes.

“If any bank refuses to accept deposits of old notes, please lodge a complaint with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) via these numbers; 08124993895, 09064323154, 08092509777.

“The Lagos State Government will report the bank to the CBN, and immediately shut down the offending branch.

“I thank you so much and assure you that all this too shall pass as the authorities are working to ensure that the teething problems of the redesigning of our currency are resolved.”

A 28-year-old Zimbabwean man identified as Desire Moyo has been arraigned before a Bulawayo regional magistrate, Dambudzo Malunga, after a bizzare att@ck he carried out against his 22-year-old co-tenant, Tendai Govere.

Desire allegedly ass@ulted and v!olated Tendai after discovering him in his bedroom with his wife. It was reported that Desire’s wife, Patience Ncube, called Tendai into their bedroom. After initially hesitating, Tendai eventually agreed and visited her in the evening when Desire was not around. However, things quickly turned sour when Desire unexpectedly returned and caught the two together in his bedroom.

Desire began ass@ulting Tendai with a leather belt and his fists, causing him to bl££d profusely. To add to the horror of the situation, Desire handcuffed Tendai, continued the assault, removed his trouser and ed a s£x toy into his rear for two long hours while recording a video of the brut@lity.

Tendai got quite lucky as other co-tenants came to his aid, phoning the Khumalo Police Station who swiftly reacted and arrested Desire. Constance Mathaba represented the State during the court proceedings.

B-metro reported that Desire was charged with two counts of assault and aggravated indecent assault, but he pleaded not guilty to both charges. Despite his plea, he was remanded in custody until Tuesday next week when his trial will commence.

Mohamed Salah missed a penalty as Liverpool came back down to earth with a bump in their shock 1-0 defeat at struggling Bournemouth on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side travelled to Dean Court in high spirits after their historic 7-0 thrashing of arch rivals Manchester United last weekend.

But Liverpool’s hopes of using that remarkable result as a springboard to push for a top four finish in the Premier League were given a brutal reality check on the south coast.

Philip Billing punished woeful Liverpool defending to put the struggling hosts ahead early on and Salah blew the chance to equalise when he fired wide from a second half spot-kick.
