Does this connection look correct?

I noticed the thread appears to be cross threaded or off in some way. The plumbing was done about 10 years ago and has always looked this way. I noticed a small dried up puddle under that fitting and some dirt on the pvc. Does this look right?

Why is my tub doing this?

For reference I live in a pretty old house, although I don’t know the exact year. I’ve had an issue with my tub filling with what looks like sewage for about a year now. It seemed to stop in the spring/summer so I thought I was done dealing with it but has started again. It seems to happen when I’m doing the dishes in my kitchen. The water smells horrid and there’s always what looks like dirt and other things that settle at the bottom. Any idea why this is happening and how to stop it from happening going forward?

Bathtub in old ass house: What is this large brass cylinder?

I live in an old ass house (1918) and there is a little access door in the adjacent room to the bathroom. This is the back of the rub. What is the large brass cylinder for, and more specifically, how does it work? Potential maintenance issues that can come up later? Mostly curious about how it works so if I ever need to diagnose something later on, I have an idea of what this thing does. I think the tub is original cast iron, but not sure. Thanks!

Plumber declares leak a mystery.

This brown spot showed up on the ceiling beneath the upstairs bathtub during my kids bath. I noticed it the next day and looked back at the camera I have in that room and could see it slowly forming over a few minutes while the tub was draining. I opened up the wall behind the tub and didn’t see any water or anything suspicious. So the plumber comes out today and cut the spot out of the ceiling and pokes around for a while looking for the source only to come up with nothing. The spot is only on one side of the drywall and doesn’t look like it seeped through. Any ideas what this mystery leak could be from?

Is this the dangerous type of crack?

I read some of the comments on posts where people had a crack in the toilet, where the commentators said that it can be pretty dangerous, and lead to them being stabbed to death by the toilet if it breaks, while in use.

I’ve been scared to use my toilet ever since i discovered the crack, and have not sat on it for a couple of days.

Am I being parnoid, or is it reasonable to worry about this? It’s not a big one.

It takes 14 minutes to get hot water

Hello everyone. I purchased new townhome with my wife this year. In our master shower it takes approximately 14 minutes for the water to get hot. We have a tankless hot water heater in the garage and--you guessed it, the master shower is the farthest from the unit. I've been reading about recirculation pumps with bridge/crossover valves. Is this something that can be installed on a tankless hot water heater. All the installation instructions and videos I've watched have been for tank water heaters.

Here are some pictures of what I've got.
