Okay, we are on a roll - another new podcast in the sermon series and I LOVE this one. I told Dad that I was fired up after listening to it and wanted to record an intro right away! The title is from a Bob Dylan song, but I love the way Dad tied it to the temptation of Jesus in the dessert, and brings such a powerful message. Scripture is always relevant, but somehow this just seemed to speak to the moment in ways that I didn't expect. And of course, Dad always makes it apply to our lives and makes it entertaining!

The title of the sermon came from a Bob Dylan song, and Dad uses scripture to help us understand that we have to serve somebody - there is no middle ground.  With his typical candor and humor, Dale delivers a message that is more timely today...

Latest podcast in our sermon series. Despite the title, this sermon is very hopeful. And he uses one of my favorite illustrations, the story of his sweet little grandma wringing a chicken's neck 😂. When it comes to the bad things that happen in this world, people often blame God or the devil - Dale has a different view and, as always, he uses humor and stories to bring the Bible to life.

I didn't realize I forgot to post a podcast from last week!
Latest in the sermon series - Dale's unique take on the story of Jonah. You might think getting swallowed by a fish is the sensational part of the story, but that's just a small detail when looking at the entire story and the character of Jonah. Begs the question, what if God asked you to go to your worst enemies, the people you think deserve a special place in hell, and share God's love with them? If they became believers, would you be happy about it, or resentful of God's mercy and grace for those you don't believe deserve it? It's an entertaining and challenging story!

The latest podcast comes at a perfect time because I am thankful beyond words for my earthly Father (and Mother) whose love for me made it easy to believe and accept God's profound love for me too. Dad takes the parable of the Prodigal Son and does what he does best - he brings the story to life in a new way and tells memorable personal stories to help us apply scripture to our lives. "The Loving Father" has something for everyone, but it's particularly relevant for parents who can use this story as a model for treating our children the way our heavenly Father treats us. So grateful for my Dad and my Mom (Gilda) (who is featured in the recording because I decided to include the music from the service). Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a treat for you! As you know, my Dad loves telling stories, and on rare occasions, he would would give his testimony in little installments (like a soap opera, he says) each night during revival services. I recently had the good fortune of finding a four-part series of my Dad's testimony and I'm so excited to air it on the podcast! It's really funny and if you listen to all four segments, it's also quite inspiring. This is part 1 and 2 (I put them together because they only add up to about 20 minutes). Can faith be "taught?" If so, how do we pass along a legacy of faith? I discussed this topic with my parents in the latest podcast. As I parent, I worry about falling short and failing the kids, especially when it comes to spiritual things. Will too much push them away? Will too little leave them aimless? As usual, it helps to talk to Mom and Dad.

Tamson discusses with Dale and Gilda what it means to have a legacy of faith (and if that is even possible).

While I was in NC, I interviewed Dad and Mom about parenting. As you know, I think they are amazing parents! It was interesting to hear about their childhoods and how their parents (for better or worse) helped inform their parenting styles. I could have called this podcast "Parenting Made Simple, by Dale Riddle". 😂
