We are almost at the end of the songwriting and music series. I interviewed Dad about his song "The End Time" which (in my opinion) is one of the most unusual songs he wrote. Generally, thinking about the end time theology is kind of a downer for me, but somehow Dad is able to frame things in a way that gives me hope and makes me laugh and feel more peaceful about the future.

Latest podcast features the youngest members of the Riddle family. The first 10 minutes has several clips of Morgan and me singing when we were little. Life on the road with two little kids, in church every night, was so challenging, but it was fun to hear Mom and Dad recount stories about those early days. My Dad's 80th b-day inspired me to edit a few more podcasts. Almost finished with the music series. My Dad sent me this reflection yesterday that I'm including here since he mentions the song:
"My daughter shared a podcast today about a song I wrote years ago about the end times. The song title is “When Life Comes To An End.” Now that I am eighty years old I realize that the end of my physical time on earth is very short, so I am aware that end is coming for me before too long. I have lived a full and wonderful life and it has lasted much longer than I every imagined. Would I do something different if I could start life all over again? Maybe and Probably. However, I have enjoyed this life so much that I would be willing to live all over again."

An awesome throwback for you, just in time for Easter! I added a song to YouTube that my Dad (Dale Riddle) wrote in the 1970's. "Resurrection Power" is not your typical Easter song (you can hear what a great preacher he is just by the way he performs this song) and I'm amazed at how it stands the test of time - still an awesome song! Enjoy! And happy Easter to all! Hallelujah - He is risen!

One more podcast to add to season 2 before we move on to season 3 (all about music - I'm so excited!). This is another one of Dad's sermons that I wanted to revisit. I love the way he can bring the Bible to life - it has always been a gift. And this one is short! (I finally managed to stick to my Dad's wish. His sermons were always short, so he wanted the podcasts to be short too, but that has proved challenging for his interviewer 😁)

Finally posting a new podcast! Another trip down memory lane with a good friend whom Mom and Dad met in the early days of the Riddle Evangelistic Association. It was so nice to talk to Tom Bos and hear he and Dad reminisce. When I think of all the miracles God provided during those ministry years, people like Tom come to mind - it was people like him who made everything possible.

Wishing my Dad a happy 79th birthday today! Was hoping to have a new podcast ready today, but I'm slow at editing, so instead I'm sharing Carlie's new custom graphic design she created for the podcast (I love it!), a few pictures, and a link to our very first episode from Feb, 2022, about death (it's also available on almost all podcast platforms). Strangely, I think Dad's acknowledgment and comfort with his mortality has helped him to live fully! Happy birthday, Dad!

When I was in NC, Dad and Morgan and I went to visit Mark Howell for a look back at the year that Mark traveled with us as our sound man. Mark took a gap year after high school and opted for a very different type of education . . . life on the road with an evangelist! This was such a fun interview and I love hearing all the stories and laughter, especially now that we are older and can look back with a different perspective on those experiences. Thanks, Mark!
