90 years ago, Tazio Nuvolari wrote history at the German Grand Prix, held at the Nürburgring. On paper, Nuvolari’s Scuderia Ferrari-entered Alfa Romeo P3 was no match for the ‘Silver Arrows’ Mercedes and Auto Unions. Nuvolari, however, tore up the script. Not even a spin and a botched fuel stop could stop him from storming to the front.
In a dramatic last lap, leader von Brauchitsch blew a tyre on his Mercedes. Instead of a silver car, Nuvolari’s red Alfa was the first to appear at the finish. The hundreds of thousands of German fans were stunned and stayed silent at first. The German organizers did not even have the Italian national anthem ready, a member of Scuderia Ferrari fortunately had brought a record.

For us, this is an emotional moment as well, as we analyzed precisely this race - one of the most mythical Grand Prix ever - in our very first issue, published four years ago. We still have a few copies available in our webshop on taziomagazinz.com, but stocks are dwindling fast.

Parting shot. Our heads are filled with nothing but great memories - yes, even the rain - of Zolder Concours d’Elégance Thank you , and for helping us create such a magnificent display of DTM cars ranging from 1987 to 1996. Two DTM championship-winning cars, one DTM champion in the person of Eric van de Poele, a 190 with an amazing story to it, and a C Class Mercedes that hadn’t been seen in public for years.

This Sunday, you can find us Circuit Zolder for the Concours, and we bring along these five DTM cars.

We are doing something new. For the very first time, we are curating a class of DTM cars at the Zolder Concours d’Elégance (20 June) in Belgium. With the help of the Nationales Automuseum/The Loh Collection and private owners, we assembled a field of five – let’s not be modest – star cars.
