1. Becoming a doctor is over-glamorized. The job itself is meaningful, and I feel blessed to have this opportunity. But there are many unspoken challenges of being a physician. The 9 hours of exams, the competitiveness of the match, the uncertainty of where you might go to school or train, the unfathomable amount of debt that many of us choose to ignore, the long hours, the liability, the excessive documentation and quality metrics, and being treated inferior in your early years of training.
2. People will always try to bring you down, especially if you do something that makes them feel insecure about themselves or scares them. I experienced this early on when I jumped on social media as a med student. My own institution prevented me from expressing myself on social media, and it nearly had long-term consequences on my career ( lmk if you want a video about this lol)
3. You have to be passionate about what you pursue. Whether a career or business. If it’s just for money or cause your family forced you. You will be miserable pursuing it, and it will affect your health.
4. Life is incredibly short, and you should never take your life for granted. I lost my mom very early on. My dad faced many financial challenges, but he never quit trying. I work hard, knowing I’m working towards giving my family a better life and to soon retire my father. And I still make time for my friends and family since these all bring me joy.
This post serves to show people what I’ve been through and what I’ve learned. I hope this helps someone.
And no, I’m not selling some course or product. Just positive vibez
