Musician Becca has advised young people to continuously work hard to achieve their dreams.

She said just as it has been possible for her, it is possible for everyone.

Speaking at the 2023 University of Professional Studies, Accra’s (UPSA) graduation ceremony, on Tuesday, the singer noted that with her many occupations, pursuing her education seemed like an impossible task.

However, Becca, born Rebecca Acheampong, graduated with a Masters degree in Brands and Communication with a recorded GPA of 3.92 making her the school’s 2022 valedictorian.

“Being a mother now, a wife, a career professional and a singer furthering my education seemed quite impossible but thanks to my ever-supporting husband, Dr Saani Daniel who was always there to remind me that it was very possible, there is nothing you cannot do under the sun if you dare to try,” she said.

Becca noted that “I stand here before you as a testimony and confirmation that if you can dare to dream you can surely have it. I really hope someone out there can be inspired by me or by this and challenge for even high and better.”

Giving her speech as the valedictorian, Becca thanked the lecturers and the Vice Chancellor for their guidance throughout the school period. She also appreciated parents and guardians for their love and for constantly sacrificing to see their wards get the education they need.

“To all lecturers, we pray that your fountain of knowledge will always flourish and replenish as you continue this beautiful task of imparting knowledge daily. You are indeed the backbone of this nation and may God bless you all,” she said.

Becca also congratulated her colleagues for standing their ground to graduate despite the challenge they may have faced.

GA EAST MCE HANDS OVER SCHOOL FURNITURE TO MUNICIPAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATE

GEMANEWS: Monday, 29th August, 2022; Abokobi

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga East Municipal Assembly ( GEMA),Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, has handed over two hundred dual desks to the Municipal Education Directorate on Monday 29th August,2022 at Abokobi.

The dual desks were received from the Ministry of Education and meant to augment educational infrastructure in schools in the country and improve the quality of education at the basic level.

Presenting the furniture, Hon Elizabeth Kaakie Mann noted that the gesture formed part of her and the government's commitment towards advancing education in the municipality and the country as a whole.

She charged the Education Directorate to ensure fair distribution and maintenance of the dual desks.

Madam Gifty Asiedu, Deputy Director in Charge of Finance and Administration at the Municipal Education Directorate received the furniture on behalf of the Directorate.

She commended the MCE for her hard work and thanked her for the gesture which she noted will help improve the quality of education in the Municipality and pledged to ensure swift distribution of the desks to the schools.

The presentation ceremony was witnessed by officials from the Assembly including the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Kungi, Municipal Internal Auditor (MIA), Mr. Daniel Tetteh, Public Relations Officer, Okunyin Boaz Orlan-Hackman, and Procurement Officer, Sakina Fusseini.

The Education Directorate was also represented by the Head of Monitoring and Supervision, Dr. Stephen Arthur, Human Resource Manager, Mr. Winfred Addae, Head of Education Management Information System (EMIS), Rev. Asante Botwe, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Seth Anyormi, and Logistics Officer, Madam Lucy Agyinsam.

The donation follows a similar one done in April this year through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

I spoke as the guest of honour at the inauguration of Academic City University College, a private University at Haatso in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday August 17 and appreciated the contributions of these private universities, like Academic University, as viable alternatives to state tertiary institutions, which are unable to accommodate the high number of pre-tertiary students and adult students who are interested in furthering their education but are unable to enroll in public schools.

I revealed government’s plans for universities in the newly created regions that will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and urged the tertiary institutions to continue to partner with government in this regard to accelerate industrial growth, which will improve Ghanaians' living conditions and contribute to economic growth.
