CEBU CITY - Mimo Osmeña, the son of the late Cebu Governor Lito Osmeña, officially announced his candidacy as party-list congressman for Progressive Movement for the Devolution of Initiatives (PROMDI).
Osmeña, the No. 1 nominee of the Cebu-based political party founded by his father, aims to continue the legacy of promoting devolution and improving rural areas. He plans to focus on encouraging businesses to relocate to the provinces in order to stimulate development and enhance essential services such as power, water, transportation, and communication.
During a press conference at the Cebu Grand Hotel, Osmeña, alongside PROMDI Executive Vice President Neil Labrador, also expressed support for former Senator Manny Pacquiao's political comeback. Osmeña remains confident in PROMDI's chances in the upcoming elections, citing the party's national recognition and extensive network of candidates across the country.
In addition to Osmeña and Labrador, other notable PROMDI nominees include Niño Vinluan Cinco, Danilo Roxas Cinco, and Dr. Richard Alcantara. The party has candidates running in various regions, including Cebu, Bohol, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Luzon, showcasing its widespread presence in the political landscape.
