Mihai-Gabriel Crainicu continues to offer an insightful analysis on what could shape the next chapter in global politics as Donald Trump returns to the White House in January 2025. The challenges ahead are immense: From navigating the war in Ukraine to countering China's growing influence, Trump's foreign policy could reshape the international balance of power. 🌍💥

Key takeaways:

🔑 Trump’s approach: Drawing from his first term, he’ll rely on realist strategies, leveraging America's industrial strength, energy resources, and geographical advantages. But his administration's internal dynamics could play a crucial role, particularly the influence of individuals like Elon Musk and his ties to China.

🌍 The rise of China and Russia: As the US faces a new Cold War with China, Europe must decide whether to align fully with the US or develop its own economic mechanisms to survive. The EU’s future hinges on its ability to de-couple from China, safeguard its security within NATO, and innovate to stay competitive.

⚔️ The war in Ukraine: Trump's decisions will heavily impact the future of European security. Can he balance peace negotiations with a strong deterrent against Russia’s aggression?

🔮 Europe’s role: Europe must rise to the challenge, increasing defense spending and fostering innovation to compete with China’s economic dominance. In the face of increasing global threats, unity and a strategic vision are more critical than ever.

Crainicu’s article paints a sobering picture: Will Trump’s second term be a defining moment for both the US and Europe, or will it deepen divisions and play into the hands of authoritarian regimes?

Read the second part of his article for a deep dive into the geopolitical shifts that could shape our world for decades to come.

🌍Today, Mihai-Gabriel Crainicu reminds us that The International Chessboard is Changing! ♟️
As we witness a profound evolution in global politics, the theory of realism is making a comeback in the American political arena. With national interest taking center stage, discussions and dialogues may soon give way to decisive geopolitical actions.
Will Europe be prepared for the swift transformations ahead? Now more than ever, the European Union must unite with the United States to combat the political and cultural challenges posed by the new Axis of Evil: China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
In this context, realism—pioneered by Hans J. Morgenthau—provides a vital lens to understand these shifts. Importance is placed on national power, defined by factors including geography, resources, military strength, and the quality of diplomacy. As we look to the future, how can the U.S. under the Trump administration project its power effectively on the international stage?
Join the discussion: What are your thoughts on realism in today's geopolitics? Can strong diplomacy shape a more secure future for the nations involved? 🤔💬

Recent declassified CSAT documents shed light on a concerning pattern of foreign interference in Romania’s 2024 presidential elections, particularly from Russia. 🧐

Key points from the documents reveal: 1️⃣ Russian Influence: Russia is actively involved in manipulating the electoral process through cyberattacks, disinformation, and the promotion of far-right candidates. Their goal? To weaken Romania’s ties with NATO and the West. 🇷🇴🤖 2️⃣ Social Media Manipulation: Călin Georgescu’s candidacy gained massive exposure through unmarked TikTok content, violating Romanian electoral laws. Influencers were paid to spread his message, which was aligned with pro-Russian narratives. 📲 3️⃣ Cybersecurity Threats: Over 85,000 cyberattacks have been detected, with foreign actors exploiting vulnerabilities in Romania’s electoral platforms. 🇷🇺💻 4️⃣ Legal Violations: There was a significant breach of electoral rules, with no proper markings on promotional content, potentially skewing the election in favour of pro-Russian candidate. 🚫
