Cycling-related stream of consciousness, coming from a belief that bikes should be ridden by as many people as possible, in as many (safe) places as possible and as often as possible - for the benefit of all people and the nature.

Please have a look at this new video I made with Two Wheels Anderston (which is still me, just focused on local matters and in theory, a bit better behaved 😅)
Celebrating the joy (and efficiency) of doing school runs on a bike 💪

Two heavy cameras, two tripods, a set of video lights and a bunch of accessories successfully transported to today's job and back.
Yes, that's a single speed bike too and I had a bit of a sore knee - but lived to tell the story.
I may sound like a broken record saying that cycling can be a functional way of travelling even on a tight budget (or, especially on a tight budget!) but I will keep repeating that over and over because it's true.

It has become a tradition for me to do a long bike ride in June, taking advantage of that long daylight we enjoy up North and making the most of the car-free routes I scouted out in the past.
This year was no different.
I started very early and largely covered the same route I did on a single speed bike (!) three years ago (Clyde and Forth Canal, Kelpies, Queensferry Bridges, Edinburgh...) but with a tiny bit of East Lothian seaside thrown in.
105+ miles in total, mostly at a rather relaxed pace.
Came back by train.
I keep saying I know the bike route to safely get to Loch Lomond or Edinburgh but I'm not sure how to avoid cars going to George Square... and coming back home from Queen Street station reminded me that it's still the case.
We still have people in charge who think bikes are for recreational use. Come on, we can do so much better than that.
Other than that - it was a lovely break!

WTF moment of the day.
Hip hip hooray for pedestrians with noise-cancelling headphones 🤬

Once again... the street were ours.
Filmed on 8th June 2025 in Glasgow around Anderston, City Centre, Merchant City and Glasgow Green while cycling with my daughter sitting in the trailer behind me.
The roads were available to all cyclists to use for three hours after the finish of Women's Tour of Britain Stage 4 race.
Nice touch.
Like I said before, I pay for them every day and never even get to use them (too risky, too full of cars, too many distracted drivers, too many dangerous fools).
But for a few hours we could dream what could be. And we did, and a lot of people did too.

Or at least I think it should be.

Today's 'WTF Moment of the Day' video will have to wait as I have to try submitting it to the police first.
Which is not particularly straightforward since, as far as I know, Police Scotland still does not have a portal where you can submit video evidence (like the one that saves years of police work and probably saves lives down in England or Wales).
Feel free to read their reply to someone's FOI request.

It's good to celebrate the joy of cycling and the value it brings to raising children.
This was one of the trips I took with my daughter during the long May weekend in Glasgow.
Door to door on a bike, no need for driving and infinitely faster than public transport.
I honestly couldn't be happier with the St Andrews Drive bike lane!
It's so much easier to use than my old route through Cessnock and Dumbreck.

Something nice for a change 🥰
Third day in a row of taking my child over to Pollok Park by bike.
That St Andrews Drive bike line is really good!

WTF moment of the day - van speeding through red light 🫨☠️
We had a lovely trip to Pollok Park but there always has to be some maniac trying to get people killed...

One way streets are apparently optional if you 'didn't know' 🤣
