Cycling-related stream of consciousness, coming from a belief that bikes should be ridden by as many people as possible, in as many (safe) places as possible and as often as possible - for the benefit of all people and the nature.

Another milestone completed this year.
1500 miles of 'normal' cycling (not electric, not indoors - I count these separately).
Errands, trips out of town, quick breaks to catch the sunset - you name it.
It's not much but it's honest work 😎

Absolute most of my e-assisted rides are a straight replacement for what would otherwise be urban driving (or a missed opportunity to do something interesting with my child). New achievement unlocked today, my passenger enthusiastically approves!
1500 miles in 2025 and we keep going 💪

The final result of a few consecutive wrong turns on yesterday's trip to Inverclyde.
Taken somewhere by Loch-where-the-hell-am-I that was supposed to be Greenock Cut area but definitely was not 😅
Getting a bit lost has its charm too and the low winter sun looked great.

Some photos from my recent one-day bike adventure (Glasgow - Lochwinnoch - Ayr with some unexpected stops and a well deserved food at Vegan Earth). I think photography is a bit like cycling to me - I never fully switch off, it's always there, sometimes front stage and sometimes just in a tiny support role but always there.

Turns out I have missed the World Car Free Day yesterday.
Easily done when you've had around 215 car-free days so far this year.
Happy car-free day whenever you're having it!

Nice evening spin by the Clyde with the camera, half cycling and half taking photos. I love the cold evening skies by the river and that feeling you get when passing through that vast and half-empty space where the proud past is largely gone, derelict or overgrown and the bright future is not quite there yet either.
I must have spent hundreds of hours here over the years.

I made a wee humorous video about a roundabout (no, no flag painting - just tons of bad driving) but so far FB is refusing to let me upload it.
Have a peek at my Instagram in that case and give it a follow if you feel like it.

A video of my one-day bike adventure in northern Poland in July 2025.
When life's hard and you rarely get a chance to do a longer ride... you take what you can and make the most of it. Whether you have a bike designed for long rides or just an urban single speed with skinny tyres, like I did. 'Not suitable'? Sorry, I can't hear you, I'm already on my way.
The morning was very wet and the first part of the route was nasty (partly due to my error!) but then things just got better and better.
I would have probably done more than 100 miles if not for running out of electricity to charge the phone and wasting an hour or two looking for a power bank to buy.
I roughly followed the route from Kołem Się Toczy - but due to some payment/delivery issues (classic Polish problems) I did not have the map in time and never studied the route, so I quickly took some wrong turns and went totally off the script once I got closer to the sea.
All in all, it was a great adventure, lovely ride and a great opportunity to see something very different than I see when I cycle in Scotland (but definitely reminding me of my childhood awe for the Baltic Sea!)
Bike with a Vengeance, turning 100% anger, grit and defiance into happiness with every pedal stroke.
