The Perfect Neighbor (2025)

This stark documentary from director Geeta Gandbhir presents the chilling true-story of a Florida neighbourhood whose tensions escalate into a fatal shooting, examining the deadly intersection of race, gun laws and police inaction. The film is constructed almost entirely from raw police body-cam, 911 and security footage creating a visceral, unflinching experience that critics hail as both “horror-documentary” and powerful social indictment.
Its strength lies in the authenticity of the footage and the way it forces viewers to confront the human cost of laws like “stand your ground”.

Some viewers note a sense of despair: the film raises urgent questions but offers little in the way of hopeful answers.

Rating: 8.5/10

If you’re looking for a gripping true-crime feature that is as socially relevant as it is emotionally harrowing, this one hits hard.

Sorority of the Damned (2025)

Sorority of the Damned is a low-budget indie horror-comedy in which a hapless handyman must contend with a college sorority unlocked into demonic possession thanks to a gate to hell unleashed by the house mother.

The film’s strengths lie in its unabashed camp and practical effects: for fans of cheesy horror and squeaky clean gore, there’s genuine charm. According to viewers it’s “silly and stupid but in a fun way,” making it a guilty-pleasure watch if you’re on board with absurdity.

On the flip side, this is clearly a film of limited ambitions. Character arcs are shallow, pacing is uneven, and the narrative doesn’t strive for big emotional or thematic payoff. Some reviews suggest it leans so heavily into gore/comedy that narrative coherence takes a back-seat.

If you enjoy throwback horror flicks packed with oddballs, practical gore and cheeky setups rather than polished storytelling, Sorority of the Damned delivers. But if you want refined scares or a strong script, you may find it lacking.

Bad Man (2025)

Bad Man is a Southern-fried action-comedy set in C**t Lake, Tennessee, where a local meth-epidemic case spirals into chaos when undercover agent Bobby Gaines (Seann William Scott) arrives and overshadows local deputy Sam Evans (Johnny Simmons). The film’s strengths lie in its quirky town characters, sharp improvised banter, and Scott’s unexpectedly good comedic tone.

However, it falters in its narrative cohesion: the last act becomes predictable, the female characters feel under-written, and the tones of comedy and crime don’t always gel perfectly.

If you like genre mash-ups of quirky crime and buddy-cop comedy with a rural backdrop, this lands well enough. It won’t revolutionize the genre, but it offers a fun 98-minute ride.

The Astronaut (2025)
This sci-fi horror thriller follows astronaut Sam Walker (Kate Mara) after a perilous mission sends her back to Earth with unexplained injuries and bizarre symptoms. She’s placed into quarantine in a luxurious but isolated facility, where the tension steadily builds.

Mara delivers a committed performance, and director Jess Varley crafts a strong early atmosphere of suspense, isolation and body‐horror ambiguity.

But when the story transitions into its final act, the tone becomes inconsistent, the revelations feel rushed, and the ending fails to fully satisfy. Critics note that the film “loses the landing”.

Overall, if you enjoy psychological sci-fi that blends alien threat with post-mission trauma, The Astronaut offers moments of intrigue and style. Just be aware it doesn’t quite deliver on its promise.
