Ratan Naval Tata Passes Away Updates: Day of mourning announced in Maharashtra today, Amit Shah to attend last rites

The Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and recipient of India’s second highest civilian honour, Padma Vibhushan, Ratan Tata passed away on Wednesday at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. He was 86 years old. Tata was in a critical condition and was under intensive care. Tata had said on Monday that he was undergoing routine medical investigations due to his age and related medical conditions.

Maharashtra government has declared a day of mourning in the state to pay tributes to industrialist Ratan Tata, the Chief Minister’s office said. A statement quoting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the national tricolour on government offices in Maharashtra will be flown at half-mast on October 10 as a sign of mourning. Tata’s mortal remains is being kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in south Mumbai from 10 am to 4 pm and his last rites will be performed in Worli area of Mumbai later in the day. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the last rites.
In 2008, he received the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian honour in India, after receiving the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honour in 2000. He joined Tata in 1961, where he worked on the shop floor of Tata Steel. He later succeeded J R D Tata as chairman of Tata Sons upon the latter’s retirement in 1991. Under his tenure the Tata Group acquired Tetley, Jaguar Land Rover, and Corus, in an attempt to turn Tata from a largely India-centric group into a global business.

Ranbir Kapoor to lead Aditya Chopra's 'Dhoom 4'? Here's what we know!

Ranbir Kapoor is set to star in Dhoom 4, which has officially entered the pre-production stage at YRF under the guidance of Aditya Chopra, according to a report in Pinkvilla. The Dhoom franchise began in 2004 with Aditya Chopra joining hands with John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra on the Sanjay Gadhvi-directed film. It introduced a fresh storytelling style in the action genre, with John portraying a cool grey character. The stakes were raised in 2006 when Hrithik Roshan joined as the antagonist in Dhoom 2, and the franchise continued to expand with Aamir Khan in 2013, leading to ongoing discussions about casting for Dhoom 4.

A source revealed that Aditya Chopra, who holds the franchise close, plans to reboot it for modern audiences. He is working on the script alongside Vijay Krishna Acharya to deliver a unique cinematic experience. According to the insider, discussions with Ranbir have been in progress for some time, and he has shown keen interest in joining the franchise. Birthday girl Divya Dutta: Glad I am finally getting titular roles

Divya Dutta has taken a day off from her shoot schedule in Lucknow to spend time with her family and friends today, as she turns “sweet 16, once again”.
Having completed three decades in showbiz, the actor says that many roles have given her gratification, and it only grows as she now gets to play key characters. “I am at a stage where roles are being written for me and people say if you don’t do it, I won’t make it (the project). I am getting good projects and titular roles, and dheere-dheere apna mukaam bana rahi hoon,” says Dutta.

Last seen in Sharmajee Ki Beti, the actor is currently shooting a web series with actor Sanjay Mishra. “I also completed a film co-starring Manoj Bajpayee recently. They are all lead roles and I feel grateful that this phase has come in my life,” says Dutta, who will also be seen in the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava, Ek Ruka Hua Sa Faisla and the next season of the web show Bandish Bandits.

Meanwhile, she has also been enjoying her stint as a writer. Having penned two books, Me and Ma and The Stars in the Sky, Dutta now plans to write a book for children. “I am working on a fiction book of short stories. When I go home, I tell children stories and they always say that I should write a book on them so now I have decided that I will write children’s book of short stories,” says Dutta.

Meanwhile, the actor turns 47 today and she plans to keep things low-key: “My family is planning something for me and a few of my friends would come over. Sometimes, simple is nice! Small things like kids shelling out their pocket money to get gifts for their bui (paternal aunt), yeh sab bahut cute cheezen hoti hain and I look forward to that.”

Veteran actor Prem Chopra has carved a niche for himself by delivering cult classics such as 'Prem Nagar', 'Upkar', and 'Bobby' in the industry and became one of the most popular and undisputed villains of all time. He has also worked in films in Hollywood. On Prem Chopra's birthday, we revisit the time he was offered a film in the west asking him to play Godfather. He jumped at the offer only to later realise that it was not what he was thinking.
In an interview with ANI earlier this year, Prem Chopra revealed that he was offered the role of Godfather in a Hollywood film paying homage to Francis Ford Coppola's iconic film 'The Godfather.'"I had an offer...somebody came to me and said they were making an English film, a Hollywood production with American actors in it. He told me that it was a tribute to 'Godfather' (cult crime trilogy directed by iconic American auteur Coppola). I jumped on it thinking I was playing the Godfather.

"Later, Chopra said, he found out that his role wasn't central to the plot but merely served as a reference to the film. "But when I arrived on the set, I was told that it wasn't the Godfather, and Godfather was merely a character in the film," recalls Chopra.
The veteran actor also opened up on his debut 2012 Hollywood film 'Heartland', a Punjabi-English film with English as the predominant language and why the character of the Sardar that he essays in the film, refuses to speak in English due to a past experience.

"I did some American films also, including Heartland, which was released all over America. I played a Sardar in the film," the actor said.

"There is a good story around it," shared Chopra on why the character of the Sardar that he essays in 'Heartland' refuses to speak in English.
