Ashura, observed on the 10th of Muharram (July, 5, 2025) in the Islamic calendar, holds profound significance and is considered an auspicious day. Beyond its historical and religious importance, Ashura offers therapeutic benefits that can foster personal growth, emotional healing, and community bonding.

Ashura is more than a day of remembrance; it is an opportunity for therapeutic growth and renewal. It has been narrated that it was the day on which Allah forgave our father Adam, the day on which the Ark of Nuh (Noah) came to rest on the mountain known as al-Judi after six months at sea, and the day on which Allah forgave the people of Yunus (peace be upon him and all the Prophets). Additionally, it was the day on which Allah saved Sayyiduna Musa (Moses) and his people and drowned Fir`awn (Pharaoh) and his people. Musa fasted out of gratitude to Allah and his people continued the practice after him.

May this day be of benefit for you and an alleviation from harm. May Allah grant your heart peace, expansiveness, and healing, Ameen.

Love,
with spiritual advice given by our teachers.

During our most recent Ramadan Ladies Qiyam, a reflection was shared by one of our beloved teachers, Ustadha Nejma…

Love is one powerful tool…

Two words in the Qur’an denote love, and they are: hubba and wadda. For example, Allah says,

“Allah loves (yuhhibu) those who repent and loves (yuhhibu) those who adopt cleanliness.” [Surah Al Baqarah: 222]

“He made between you love (wadda).” [Surah Rum: 21]

Many of us wonder about love. What is this thing called love? How do we obtain it?

And for , love is simply what we experienced this past weekend. A love that exists in the world of the feminine that cannot be shaken.

We are thankful for your presence. We are thankful for your duaa. We are simply thankful for you. Thank you to all of our teachers and workers. Thank you to everyone who attended the Ramadan Ladies Qiyam, hosted in collaboration with , , , .coach, , and

Until next year!

We are excited to highlight one of our collaborators for the upcoming Ladies Ramadan Qiyam!

The Social Loft Sisters Lifestyle Community was founded in 2020 by three sisters from Detroit—Taqwa, Laila, and Aliyah Mahdi—with the goal of fostering meaningful connections among Muslim women. As sisters, mothers, wives, and friends, we understand the unique challenges and joys we face in our everyday lives.

In 2020, we opened the doors to our physical space, The Social Loft, located in Hamtramck, MI. However, as our community quickly grew, we realized that we had outgrown our original space. In response, we made the decision to close the physical location with plans to relocate to a larger venue in the future InShaAllah , one that better serves our community’s needs.

In the meantime, we remain deeply committed to connecting with Muslim women from all walks of life through our thriving online community. Our vision is to continue nurturing relationships and empowering women across the globe, providing a supportive space where we can all grow, learn, and uplift one another
