𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃: University discusses SSG's appeal to waive academic outputs for the First Semester

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃: University discusses SSG's appeal to waive academic outputs for the First Semester

Last December 28, 2021, the Supreme Student Government raised an appeal to to the University. The appeal included the call to cancel the final examinations and waive all pending academic outputs.

Fortunately, on December 29, 2021, the University heeded the call of the students and ended the semester, officially cancelling the final examinations. However, the University did not waive the pending outputs.

This has led to a lot of students, especially those heavily affected by Odette, to express their grievances and concerns. To address this, SSG President Jan Dale Carlo Catalonia sent another request on December 29, 2021 to re-appeal for the waiving of academic outputs.

On January 2, 2022, the University Vice President for Academic Affairs, Atty. Corazon Valencia, said that "the Academic Council will take up your request in its meeting tomorrow so that it can make its recommendation to the President."

In line with this, the Academic Council will be having its meeting today to discuss the appeal together with other matters. This has also been confirmed by SSG Secretary General Jan Peolo Gargaran, who has made contact with a member of the Academic Council today inside the campus premises.

As of today, students are advised to wait for the announcement of the decision of Cebu Institute of Technology - University's Academic Council. Let's pray for the best!

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃: CIT-U SSG concludes first wave of Odette Relief Operations

𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃: CIT-U SSG concludes first wave of Odette Relief Operations

The Supreme Student Government and our on-ground team led by Aldrin Glen Gumandoy and Jhonryl Camacho, together with our partners, conducted a three-day relief operation from December 26 - 28, 2021 at the University.

Last December 24, 2021, SSG President Jan Dale Carlo Catalonia signed Executive Orders No. 8 and 9 Series of 2122 to reallocate a budget of Php 100,000 for the Odette relief op of the Supreme Student Government. Through this and the help of our partners, we were able to provide drinking water, used clothes, and relief packs to more than 800 families.

Currently, the Supreme Student Government concludes its first wave of Odette relief operations. Once resources become available, the Tabang Teknoy relief ops may recommence. Please keep updated for future announcements.

A liquidation report of the expenditures of the Supreme Student Government for this relief operation will be disclosed soon.

At this point, we would like to extend our gratitude to the Cebu Institute of Technology - University Administration for allowing us to conduct our relief operation within the premises of the University.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Barya Mo Tubig sa Cebu Movement led by Ice Almodiel and team, UNITED for CIT University, and the led by André Erasmo, Samuel Villasis Lacson and team. As our partners for this operations, we are grateful for this opportunity to collaborate and work together for the benefit of our community.

Through Resolution No. 62 Series of 2122 by EE Representative Aldrin Glen Gumandoy, the Supreme Student Government will be appealing to the University for the conduct of safe and limited face-to-face classes this Academic Year 2021-2022.

However, appealing is never our end-goal. The Supreme Student Government also seeks to support all measures and initiatives of the Cebu Institute of Technology - University Administration should face-to-face classes be implemented.

As such, we are calling for ALL TECHNOLOGIANS for an open student consultation on your thoughts, suggestions, and struggles related to the conduct of limited face-to-face classes.

This will help the Supreme Student Government recommend inclusive policies, initiate student-centered programs, and advocate for collaborative solutions.

As provided in Section 11 Article II of the 2020 CIT-U SSG Constitution, the CIT-U SSG shall adopt and implement a policy of public disclosure of all its transactions involving the interests of its members.

With the Council of Leaders convening for the first time today, the Supreme Student Government would like to extend its gratitude to all the student organizations who were present during the meeting.

The CIT University Supreme Student Government commits itself to empower all the student organizations in the University through all means possible. With this, the 37th Administration is keen on promoting collaboration and understanding among students from different backgrounds— and establishing a collegiate council is part of the process.

Through Resolution No. 13 and 37 Series of 2122 by Hon. Jhonryl Camacho, the CIT University Computer Students' Society has been designated as a collegiate council, on top of being a functioning organization of the University.

The newly-designated Council shall be entitled to receive support of any kind from the Supreme Student Government for initiatives and programs that foster mutual understanding, collaboration, and representation among students from the Computer Science and Information Technology departments.

The Supreme Student Government extends its gratitude to the Dean of the College of Computer Studies, Ma'am Cherry Lyn Sta. Romana, for making this milestone possible.

The CIT University Supreme Student Government commits itself to empower all the student organizations in the University through all means possible.

Included in such commitment is the provision of financial subsidies to all accredited student organizations of CIT University to capacitate the organizations in initiating their own programs and projects.

Through Resolution No. 7 Series of 2122 by Hon. Jelly Ann Siago and Student Act No. 003 by Hon. Andre Enriquez, all organizations duly accredited by the Student Affairs Office shall be eligible for a cash assistance.

An appropriated budget of Php 30,000, as stated in Student Act No. 001, shall be utilized for this legislation and shall be divided among the organizations who have successfully filed for a reaccreditation this academic year.

To avail your subsidy, please follow these steps:
1. Send the Supreme Student Government a copy of your SAO-endorsed Project Proposals through [email protected].
2. Give the Supreme Student Government around five (5) days to process your subsidies.
3. After utilizing the subsidy, provide us a Statement of Cash Receipts and Disbursements (SCARDS) and a copy of the proof of expenses for the certain project.

One of the commitments of the Supreme Student Government is to empower all the student organizations in the University. Part of which is to provide a sustainable means of communication and an extensive cloud storage to all constituent organizations for ease of operations and future transitions.

Through Resolution No. 3 Series of 2122 by Hon. Aldrin Glen Gumandoy, all organizations duly accredited by the Student Affairs Office shall receive a Microsoft Account. Access to these accounts shall be provided through your current organizational emails.

The CIT University Supreme Student Government fully extends its gratitude to the Technical Support Group, the University Vice President for Administration, Mr. John Gregory B. Escario, and the Cebu Institute of Technology - University Administration for granting our request.
