Coming soon!

A nameless 16-spot ladybird is thrust into the web of a criminal mastermind when controversial property developer Aaron Sunderland is murdered, and his body pinned to the tree she has been hibernating on. Newly promoted DI Heather Cooper must track down the killer before he strikes again. :D in a few episodes time, I'll start reading this on the show.

Writing a story for Hidden Wings and Bloodlust Podcast (which I may well turn into a book) called - The Entomology of Murder.

A property developer is murdered on a nature reserve. His body is pinned to a tree like a collection in a museum, with an entomological note attached to it bearing a mysterious message. Police first believe it is the work of environmental activists trying stop housing being built near the precious habitat. But soon other bodies start to show up; the director of a museum, the chair of an amateur entomologists' club - and it becomes clear to detectives they are searching for a potential serial killer. But who? And can they stop them before they strike again?

:D

Got a new episode coming in a few weeks about 'weird ladybirds'. 😆 Here's one I saw with an extra spot on one side!

Let me know if you'd like me to do this! The main character would of course be a ladybird. :D

As you may know, I am a nature podcaster as well as being an indie author. My love of nature often informs my writing. I'm thinking of writing a multipart murder mystery story for Hidden Wings and Bloodlust Podcast listeners which I'll read on the show each week. What do you think of that idea?

Me and Michiel de Groot chat about the notorious Laboulbeniales fungi - in particular the Hesperomyces genus which infects ladybirds.

I talk to Michiel de Groot of the University of Ghent about his research on the notorious Laboulbeniales fungi, and the Hesperomyces genus which infect ladybirds - especially Harlequins. Follow Michiel at .bsky.social https://beetlehangers.org/ Beetlehangers https://www.dannyhaelewate...

Hidden Wings and Bloodlust

This podcast is dedicated to ladybirds, ladybugs, whatever you want to call them. Every week we discuss the what, where how and most importantly why of ladybirds. What is a prosternal keel? How many hours can a 7-spot fly in the air for? Where does a pine ladybird hang out...apart from pine trees? Find out the answer to all these questions and more!
