Jomo Kenyatta is regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of African politics. An anti-colonial activist, he rose to become the first Prime Minister of Kenya (1963–1964) and later the country's first President.

Kenyatta played a pivotal role in leading Kenya to independence from British colonial rule. As a key figure in the Kenya African National Union (KANU), he was at the forefront of the political struggle for self-governance. His political ideology combined nationalism with conservatism.

Kenyatta also worked to promote peace and unity among Kenya’s diverse ethnic groups. He is widely revered as one of the founding fathers of the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union).

Patrons of the Dagbon Students' Association (DASA) at second-cycle schools and tertiary institutions in the Northern Region, together with the leadership of Dagbon Youth, organized a meeting to discuss issues bordering on the Association and address the regional DASA executives' position. The meeting, held at the Dabokpa Technical Institute on Sunday, June 15, 2025, aimed to find a lasting solution to the challenge posed by the immediate past DASA regional executives' attempt to reshow interest in their positions after the appointment of an interim regional executive.

The action of the old executives created divisions and unproductive differences, prompting the meeting, which brought together national executives of Dagbon Youth Association (DAYA) and Dagbon Forum (DF). Chairman of the Northern Regional patron of DASA, Naa Professor Abdul-Razak Abukari, briefed the house on the circumstances that led to the mini conference and the appointment of interim executives for the Association, citing dormancy and violation of the Association's constitution by the past executives.
