With the final ranked choice voting totals released by the NYC Board of Elections, Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani has officially received more votes than any candidate in a New York City primary.

According to Politico NY reporter Jeff Coltin, Mamdani secured 565,639 votes after absentee ballots were counted, defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 440,655. That gives Mamdani a final margin of 56.2 percent compared to Cuomo’s 43.8 percent.

The total voter turnout for this Democratic primary now stands at 1,061,257, surpassing any previous record.

The previous highest turnout was during the 2021 Democratic mayoral primary, which ended with a final count of 942,031 votes after all rounds of ranked choice tabulation were completed.

Ranked choice voting allows voters to rank candidates by preference. If no one wins a majority in the first round, the lowest-ranked candidates are eliminated and their votes are redistributed to the next preferences. This continues until one candidate earns over 50 percent.

Mamdani’s 565,639 votes in the final round set a new all-time high for any candidate in a New York City primary.

His grassroots campaign focused on affordability, housing, climate, and justice reform, and it clearly resonated with a wide base of New Yorkers.

A new poll from UC Irvine surveyed over 4,100 California voters. 41% said they’d vote for Harris in a governor’s race, while 30 percent said they’d support a generic Republican. 16% were undecided, and 14% said they wouldn’t vote at all.

That’s a weak showing for someone with near such huge name recognition. Kamala Harris has never recovered since the 2019 Democratic Primary having to drop out months before the first February 2020 Iowa Caucus even took place. On December 3, 2019 she shut down her campaign.

During her time as Vice President she has had some of the lowest approval ratings for any modern Vice President ultimately losing to Donald Trump by 48.3% to 49.8%, a 1.5% difference or about 2 million votes.

Harris may have a much tougher path forward in the California Governors race and it points out that voters want something new.

70% of Californians say housing should be the top funding priority for the state, more than any other issue, including health care and public safety.

• The median home price in California is now over $910,000 more than double the national average

Trump just signed new executive orders that could put U.S. public lands at risk.

One order creates a “Make America Beautiful Again Commission” from July 3, is to manage national parks. But the language is vague and talks about “fixing government overreach” and “promote stewardship while driving economic growth,” which could lead to rolling back protections.

The order also criticizes restrictions on hunters, fishers and ranchers that will put our wildlife at risk while labeling federal conservative efforts as “mismanagement” which sets the stage to weaken agencies like the EPA.

The order raises entrance fees for international visitors while keeping prices the same for Americans. It’s being sold as a way to make parks pay for themselves, a tactic that’s been used before to justify privatizing land and opening it up for drilling or mining.

Now, according to the Washington Post, sources at the Department of the Interior say he’s considering shrinking those same monuments again, along with four others, to allow for energy development.

He also signed an executive order on June 12 called Empowering Commonsense Wildfire Prevention and Response. That order specifically mentions hazardous fuels reduction projects, (remember raking the forests?) a term that often includes logging, land clearing, and forest thinning actions that can open the door to resource extraction.

In March 1, 2025, Trump signed Executive Order 14225 “Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production,” which directs the Agriculture Secretary to accelerate timber production by overriding environmental reviews and weaken regulations.

The National Park Service has already lost 24 percent of its permanent staff under Trump, meaning fewer people to protect these public lands while his administration pushes them closer to private use.

Today, Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who handed him a letter nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize. “It’s nominating you for the peace prize which is well deserved and you should get it,” Netanyahu said.

Trump responded, “Thank you very much… Coming from you in particular this is very meaningful. It’s a great honor.”

Netanyahu has been indicted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity. If he visits any of the 124 countries that are members of the ICC, they’re legally obligated to arrest him. Nations like Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, Slovenia, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Canada have said they will comply.

Trump, who’s always ready to follow Israel’s lead on military actions, accepting a peace prize nomination from a wanted war criminal feels like satire.

Former NY Governor David Paterson is now lecturing NYC on how to stop Mamdani. He says either Adams or Cuomo has to drop out, but won’t say who.

Former Governor David Paterson has previously endorsed Andrew Cuomo in the 2025 NYC mayor’s race.

This is the same guy who tried to cover for his top aide accused of domestic violence, he even pressured the victim not to press charges. The scandal was so bad many asked for him to resign but Paterson ended up not running for another term.

Now he wants to act like the voice of reason? He’s got a lot in common with Cuomo and credibility isn’t one of them.

•Andrew Cuomo is worth around $10 million

Cuomo’s net worth is 50 times greater than Mamdani’s.

• Mamdani does not own any real estate in the U.S. but owns 4 acres of land in Uganda. Mamdani ran for a State assembly seat and won. This seat pays $142,000 annually and he owns 4 acres of land in Uganda.

• Adams has two apartments in Brooklyn, one in New Jersey. Adams has at least $3.5 million in property assets including two pensions.

• Cuomo owns a home in Westchester and has earnings from book deals and consulting. In 2020, Cuomo’s blind trust was worth between $7.5 million to $7.75 million. In July 2020 he signed a $5.2 million “book deal.”
In April 2022 Cuomo opened a consulting firm with payments of up to $500,000 by undisclosed clients per Forbes.

Lieutenant General Russel Honoré, a decorated military leader and expert in search and rescue operations, told CNN that Texas authorities need to question the alert systems that were in place.

The General said this was a known flood area and that “we need to take a strong look at the alert system and the plan to tell people to evacuate.”

He also didn’t buy the politicians blaming some divine being for the lack of preparedness. “I don’t buy into the scenario that politicians are talking about it’s acts of God. That’s BS. This could’ve been prevented and they’re going to have to deal with that,” he said.

He mentioned that technology can fix this and that this is old technology but it needs to be properly “invested in.”

“We need to improve FEMA not destroy it.”

Meanwhile, Trump is trying to distract from his incompetence by staging another cat fight with Elon Musk.
