I realized Iām a Rat Girl:
š I donāt care how I look on camera
šI donāt want to spend hours making my content look good
š I prefer to show up as I am in the moment I have an idea, without a plan
š I donāt like spending time trying to look aesthetic or professional
So that means thatā¦
šCreating fancy content makes me want to pull my hair out!!!
Hence, Iāve been in a bit of a pickleš„
You may know that Iām shifting my brand to be more accessible and educationalā¦
Breaking the online coaching rules and actually teaching + supporting entrepreneurs, while also being honest (instead of salesy) about brand growth and the journey.
And hereās the methods Iāve tested out so far:
1ļøā£ YOUTUBE
Iāve toyed around with a YouTube channel and I may still do it with a low-quality creation process (just me, my phone, and a whiteboard). But even that requires decent lighting and some setup. And with my new job, that limits how much I can film.
And helloooo Rat Girl Energy⦠I HATE IN DEPTH PLANNING!
2ļøā£ INSTAGRAM
Creating āvaluableā content here is limiting.
This platform doesnāt make it easy to go deep without putting energy into aesthetics/design, which it clearly favors.
3ļøā£PODCAST
I tested it, but I struggle to get the energy I want from pure audio. Plus, if I were to do it ābest,ā it would need a launch strategy, branding, positioning, promotion⦠And right now, I want something low lift where I donāt have to think about sound quality, edited intros, or matching video to audio. (Again⦠Rat Girl.)
4ļøā£ TELEGRAM
I started a free group (still in my highlights) and itās been great. Group chats can get overwhelming or chaotic real quick for certain people so I want another space for easily accessible content.
š OVERALL:
Now that I have a job thatās super interpersonal, Iām more drained when I get home. Less lighting, less energy, less desire to talk to the camera.
So Iām considering various ways to share my WRITING off of socials (substack, email, etc.) ššļø
Sharing value and deeper content, without needing to create highly produced media.
And honest, since going back to corporate, the idea of being on social media less is VERY tempting ššš
