Holmyard Ready to Tackle Millewa Quarries 2026 Hattah Desert Race
Motocross racer Noah Holmyard is eager to take on the challenge of the 2026 Hattah Desert Race this weekend, entering one of Australia's most iconic off-road events with increased confidence, improved fitness, and a clear goal of breaking into the top 100 outright.
After finishing 133rd outright at last year's event, Holmyard has set his sights on improving that result while maintaining a measured approach to the demanding desert race.
"Top 100 would be great," Holmyard said. "But my biggest goal is just to keep it upright this year and put together a solid race."
Noah will be competing in the 450cc Senior division riding his ever faithful Honda 2024 CRF450R race number #460.
The lead-up to this year's Hattah Desert Race has been dominated by wet weather, creating uncertainty around track conditions. While many riders are debating whether the rain will be an advantage or disadvantage, Holmyard remains focused on adapting to whatever the desert delivers.
"I've never really raced a wet Hattah to know the difference, but I've always loved a dry Hattah," he said.
As for any changes in race strategy should rain impact the course, Holmyard's approach is straightforward.
"Ride smart."
One area where Holmyard has made significant gains over the past 12 months is his physical preparation. Countless hours in the gym have left him feeling stronger and more prepared than ever before.
"I'm heaps stronger physically and mentally leading into this year's Hattah," he said.
A key contributor to that progress has been Brendan Simms from Simply Fit, who has worked closely with Holmyard throughout the year.
"Brendan Simms has helped me out massively this year. Massive thanks to him for putting me through the workouts and helping me get stronger."
Holmyard was also quick to acknowledge the support of those closest to him.
"Mum and Dad have played a big role helping me out," he said.
For Holmyard, however, Hattah is about more than just results. The atmosphere surrounding the event remains one of the biggest reasons he continues to return each year.
"It's just the environment, the people and the track. It's all good stuff. You can't miss out on it."
As riders prepare to line up for another edition of Australia's premier desert race, Holmyard will be looking to turn a year of hard work into a breakthrough performance in the Victorian desert.
