Mughal road closed due to fresh snowfall

Poonch, Nov 30 : Mughal road, connecting Kashmir Valley's Shopian district with twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, was closed due to fresh snowfall on Thursday, officials said.

They said that there was fresh snowfall at several places along the road including 'Pir Ki Gali', leading to the closure of the thoroughfare.

DySP PC Surankote Hamid Ali Bandey confirmed to Press News Of India the closure of the road.

Earlier this year, the road, considered as alternative to Jammu-Srinagar Highway, was closed on several occasions due to snowfall, particularly in 'Pir KiGali’ and its adjoining areas.

Srinagar, October, 02 ÷ Baramulla police arrested r**e accused within hours in Kalantra Payeen, Uri of North Kashmir's Baramulla district.

Official said that police station Kreeri received written complaint from one girl (name withheld) age about 19 years stating therein that she was r**ed by her father namely Mohd Rafeeq Mochi son of Abdul Jabbar resident of Kalantra Payeen and is absconding from home.

"On this written complaint FIR was registered in Police Station Kreeri under relevant sections of law", he said.

"Police Station Kreeri utilizing all technical and human sources and with strenuous efforts traced the accused and arrested him in the instant case", he further added.

Further medico legal formalities conducted of the girl and further investigation of the case is in progress....

Cop among 2 persons killed as vehicle falls into gorge in Poonch

Jammu, Sep 26 Two persons including a policeman were killed when a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into 100-ft deep gorge in Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said.

They told that the Alto car (JK12C-6052) driven by one Mohammad Sadiq (Sgct Constable) met with the accident near Zirat Plera, resulting in his death as well as another person, Jamil Ahmed , both residents of Plera. One person, Naeem-ul-Sadiq, son of Sadiq, was injured and he has been shifted to hospital.

They said that while Sadiq died on the spot, Jamil was shifted to SDH Mandi but died during treatment.

Confirming it, a police official told us that a case has been registered.
